FWIW, Kleeman is a pretty well respected aftermarket tuner in Germany. It's not some shit parts cludged together. It's basically a US equivalent to the ,a href="http://www.kleemann.dk/site/Main/thecars/slkr171">Kleeman SLK R171

0-60 in 3.7 seconds

Tops out at 183. That's pretty damn good value for under 50k.

Basically they made the SLK55 live up to the AMG 55's badge and put a supercharger on it, like all of the rest of the 55 AMGs had on them. I never understood why Mercedes badged the SLK55 this way. It should be badged as the SLK550. The 5.5L V8 cars without the supercharger are -550s and the ones with the supercharger are -55 AMG.

1) The 55 AMG engine and the 550 series engine are NOT the same engine. The former is a 5.4 litre SOHC 24-valver, while the latter is a 5.5 litre DOHC 32-valver, and it used to be 5 litres in capacity, which was used in the 500 series models.

2) The 55 AMG engine in the SLK is the SAME engine as the one the other models used to have, except, it is wthout the supercharger. That's why it is named as the SLK55 AMG. And yes, like all other AMG engines, it is built by AMG in their factory, and is built by one person who signs their name on it, as with all AMG engines.

3) I see your point, and agree that MB should offer a supercharged SLK55 AMG (or an SLK63 AMG now), and perhaps a separate SLK550.
