Billed as "The Dream Match".

De La Hoya will be dropping a weight class, while Pacquiao will be going up two classes from the weight in which he has fought most.

Thoughts on the bout? Any one know of any local bars showing the fight?

I believe De La Hoya has said that if he loses he will retire.

However, some people - myself included - don't really think he can "win" in any meaningful sense. If De La Hoya wins in a KO, he beat up a smaller fighter. If he wins a decision, especially a split-decision, there will be controversy that he won because he is the "Golden Boy". If he loses the fight by decision or KO, he is a washed up old man.

He actually only fought at 135 once (his last fight). He became famous fighting at 126 and actually got knocked out fighting at 112 in 1999.

It would be big for Mexico if he won. Manny has beaten some of Mexican legends already (Marco Antonio Barrera, Juan Manuel Marquez, and Erik Morales) which has won over some of their fan base but irked them as well. I think Oscar is hoping a win would cause him to gain more acceptance in the Mexican community.

Prediction: Manny by decision. The fact that Manny got knocked out by a guy weighing 112 lbs is concerning. But I think Oscar has lost a couple of steps and Manny is able to use his speed and hopefully avoid taking too many risks.

Was I crazy when the ESPN crawler said there was only a 3-lb difference between both of them? I know Pacquiao (weighing in at 142) has beefed up and won like 5 times before, so don't try the size excuse. Manny can get out of control so it really depends on who comes out focused.

^ That is not really the whole story.

De La Hoya has been known to gain back as many as 10 pounds, likely almost entirely water weight, before a fight. The weight difference for the fight will be a bit larger. De La Hoya is used to fighting larger opponents, so we'll have to wait until the fight to see if Pacquiao's punches really hurt De La Hoya or not.

Yes, Pacquiao has beefed up before and won, but has never beefed up this much. When your strong suits are speed, agility, and stamina, each extra weight class is a more treacherous task.

I didn't expect Pacquiao to win in his last bout against Diaz and completely surprised me when he beat the crap out of him....I hope he does the same thing this time against De La Hoya...Watchin it tonight with the gf's family.

I think this will go down as the worst PPV undercard ever. Only one of the three fights made it to the second round.

Hopefully this is the end of De La Hoya. He's been a douchebag for years. He didn't want to fight in the first few rounds, and he was scared to take the punishment and get knocked on his ass in the last few rounds. Good for Pacquiao!

the undercard with the glass joe-lookin dude was HILARIOUS

we must've watched his first knockdown in slo-mo like 20 times, where his whole face ripples and then he just checks out
