when i go to their homepage i try to click really fast on the particular sport i'm looking for so i dont have to hear the video

also i want to say when they first offered the video thing you had to choose whether or not to download some app, but then they would start caching videos you didnt even watch on your hard drive

you can disable video playing on the home page.

under the video player, click "customize". your browser will probably block the popup so watch for that. then in the popup uncheck the "automatically play videos..." checkbox. unfortunately this only works on the homepage, but they do remember the volume setting across the site so just set it to 0.

i can see automatically starting videos as becoming a problem if ISPs ever start charging by the bandwidth instead of a flat monthly rate. i would most likely stop visiting espn.com if that were the case.
