Obvious Question: What are you going to do with it? What's your intended application?

find places in the cari dont need too many fancy things like traffic reports or pics or blue tooth or anything like that

Well she's obviously running drugs with it. I suggest the Raymarine E120 12.1 system. It comes with all the bells and whistles of a regular gps and more. Plus a one year warranty.

i've got a nuvi 350 and have been happy as hell with it.. the interface the nuvi uses is f'in awesome and one of if not the best i've seen.so, that's what i'd go for unless there's something the other one has that you just have to have..

I picked up the Nuvi 255w today from dell.com for $171... it's like the 205w but it has text-to-speech, which in my opinion is one of the best features you can get in a gps these days

^^ wanted to get the 255W at office depot but they were out, had to settle for the 205WI tested it on the way back from atlanta and it worked really well. Super easy to set up and get going with. Putting in address/places was easy since it had pretty good predictive text. I never got a chance to use the other features like local places and whatnot, but as far as helping you get one from place to another, it was great.

How do you update maps on these things? Do you have to pay?How important is screen size?

generally yes you pay for map updates.they're all relatively similar in screen size, though i will say I prefer the wide screen ones compared to the square ones.

Which is better? The Garmin 260 or the Garmin 350. I would normally assume that the higher the number the better. I found a 350 for about $50 cheaper than the 260.
