I bought a house, and the cable jack is on the opposite side of the room than I want it to be on. It's a pretty big room and I dont want to run a cable accross the floor. Does anyone know if time warner or directv will install a second jack? (im sure there is a cost, but no idea how much)

you might be able to do it yourself. what floor is it on? is there an attic or a basement/crawlspace?

Timewarner installed a couple for us when they came to connect our cable. I don't remember it being expensive. I'm not sure if you have to have their service for them to do it. I would start with whom ever you have your service with.

its on the bottom floor. there isnt a crawl space. the satellite dish that came with the house is installed on the roof, and there is a cable that runs down the side of the house and through the wall into a cable jack that is inside. What I want to do is put my jack on the opposite end of the house, on the same floor. I have a flatscreen tv that I want to hang on the wall.

Do you have DirecTV and TWC? I'll assume you get your tv service from DirecTV and have RoadRunner? That being said, I dunno if TWC would come out and hook your dish up to another jack, but I've never dealt with anything like that before.

directv will do it, but it will cost you.twc would be cheaper.[Edited on November 26, 2008 at 4:34 PM. Reason : how much are you wanting to pay? do you care about how it looks outside?]
