wife loved the books - doesn't want to see the movie
11/23/2008 6:05:33 PM
I didn't read the books because I hate books in first person. But I liked the movie. It's definitely geared for teenage girls. But I liked the story line. It was entertaining. Kristen Stewart was a good choice. And Robert Pattinson acted well and was nice eye candy I know I said it's geared for the young girls but I still was hoping for a little more than just one kiss. Maybe in the sequels?
11/23/2008 6:59:27 PM
I know several chicks who love teh books, but I think they look stupid as hell.
11/23/2008 6:59:56 PM
I have absolutely ZERO desire to see this movie. And all the media hype is REALLY annoying. Fuck this "phenomenon."
11/23/2008 7:37:35 PM
punchmonk read all of the books in like a single weekendwe saw the movie last night. not unexpectedly, she was disappointed. i feel asleep in the first 15 min [Edited on November 23, 2008 at 7:39 PM. Reason : woke up, fell back asleep a couple times]

terrible movie. I LOVED THE BOOKS!! I agree about books in first person, there is just no need to make a movie. It makes all the details seem so forced when shaped in an adaptation. The Edward character was very good looking...not what I pictured but he was nice to look at. The Bella character was spot on in looks but Kristen Stuart is one of the suckiest actors I have ever witnessed in film. The portrayal of a vampire was soooo weak that it was very disheartening to me. Rob Pattinson has the look but he can't act the role a vampire for shit.Plus...I was in a theater with a bunch of screaming teenage girls. That was def no fun. Wait till you can download it or it is in DVD form. Ken fell asleep for about 30 minutes. It did not hold his interest.I would like my money back, please.

So is this like a new Harry Potter?
11/23/2008 9:58:31 PM
Someone left this book laying around at work and I read the back cover hoping to discover just what the book was since I've seen so many people walking around with it.I was laughing after the first sentence of the book's description. It sounds like something a functional retarded homosexual would get a kick out of, just an awful premise and I would assume would insult the intelligence of all but the dumbest readers.
11/23/2008 10:58:29 PM
it's basically fanfiction.... BAD fanfiction
11/23/2008 11:05:29 PM
since when do vampires have super speed and super strength
11/23/2008 11:14:49 PM
there is no definite archetype for a vampire. This is Christopher Pyke and Stephenie Meyer's adaptation.
11/24/2008 12:01:48 AM
So from what I hear, to kill them you have to dismember them and then burn the body parts. That's the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

its teenage drama, and oh yea by the way hes a vampire. bella's high school friends are really stupid. it really made me reflect and think if ppl were that dumb when i was in high school
11/24/2008 11:54:29 AM
I loved the books, but the movie was THE WORST book to film adaptation I have EVER seen. It was laughably horrible. The two leads ruined any chance I had of liking it, the dialogue was terrible, and they changed significant portions of the book for absolutely no reason. And who calls their significant other "my little spider monkey" or "my personal brand of heroin" ???[Edited on November 24, 2008 at 11:59 AM. Reason : ???]
11/24/2008 11:57:08 AM
that part was a bit weird. i love you but i also want you eat you. and they keep bringing it up. You think that would be an awkward conversation and not brought up all the time. seriously i personally would look for love somewhere else.
11/24/2008 12:06:23 PM
the book was ok. the movie was horrible. but god. robert pattinson<3^^"my little brand of heroine was from the book"[Edited on November 24, 2008 at 1:21 PM. Reason : Spider monkey was just weird.]
11/24/2008 1:14:21 PM
Both the book and the movie suck. I only know about the movie via firsthand experience. The book I know of from my girlfriend. She seems to like it but everytime I flip through it I just start laughing at the writing.

i enjoyed the movie. i never read the books but im guessing i should have.i've had a huge crush on rob pattinson since he was cedric diggory so i had to see it
11/28/2008 10:45:09 AM
Had a discussion about the movie tonight. Haven't actually seen it but apparently it's full of Mormon/Conservative values aimed at teenagers.
11/29/2008 2:14:53 AM
i should have never seen it. now i just want to fall in love with a vampire
11/29/2008 11:04:11 AM
^^Can you elaborate? I didn't pick up on ANY of that, but maybe I missed it because the movie was just so bad.
11/29/2008 11:33:37 AM
If I was an 11 year old girl I would totally want to go see this. Too bad it's PG-13

I can't wait until I finish my exams so I can read Eclipse. Seriously, the books are good. Read them, forget the movie. The movie Edward is not the Edward Cullen I know.
11/30/2008 10:43:58 PM
I don't know anything about the movies or the books, but I'm digging the chick on the far left
12/1/2008 12:04:53 AM
12/1/2008 1:04:02 AM
^^That's Alice. She's by far the best supporting character, and the best actress in the film.
12/1/2008 9:09:41 AM
girlfriend made me see it and it was the worst. I don't know why I allow myself to get into those situations.
12/1/2008 11:30:35 AM
I haven't read the book but thought it was actually pretty good. The girl I was with who had read the book kept commenting on the inconsistencies but overall she liked it too. Also, If you're a fan of any fantasy that deals with vampires you might get angry at Stephanie Meyer's version of vampires.
12/1/2008 11:46:23 AM
I hear that this is really a soft propaganda piece for abstinence, confirm/deny?
12/1/2008 2:19:30 PM
^No, not really. It's a book that's steamy without sex. However, Bella begs Edward to have sex with her. But he won't, because he would crush her feeble mortal body. It has nothing to do with morals.
12/1/2008 2:29:14 PM
I've actually heard from quite a few people that the word going around is it's kind of soft-core Mormon propaganda. The author of the series is Mormon and there's been lots of connections between the book series and conservative values. Stephenie Meyer is known for paralleling her beliefs with her novels. I think the Time Magazine called her idea about abstinence, the "Erotics of Abstinence".^on the contrary. It's all about morals. Or at least her morals show in her work.
