I've owned dozens of cars, but this one has got me more excited than I have been in a long time. Modified WRX wagon.

I still have the M3, and with the current set up, it's absolutely brilliant to drive, one of the best handling cars I've ever driven, but being the fool I am, I want to replace it w/a 911 like the one in the picture... From Monday night @ VIR (foreground is Dan's C2):

Considering my current financial situation, I probably will only have the WRX, and I'm dying to put it on track. It understeers a bit, and the brakes suck.
Comments?

Upgrade to STi suspension. Then it'll handle like it's on rails. I have a friend with a '99 RS that he's upgraded to STi suspension and that thing is amazing both on the street and in the dirt. It's fun to just go out to the fairgrounds and play in the dirt parking lot area in the middle of the night too... What exactly has been modified on the wagon? I'd love to come out some time to check your car out... (are you back in the US yet? If so I want you to take a look at the 944 for me. I have a question you might be able to help out with...)

lol, what is your infatuation with 911's? I'm genuinely curious...

shmorri2; I am in the U.S., feel free to hit me up. The WRX has an up pipe, down pipe, exhaust, stage 2 tuning, more boost, short shifter, some gauges, etc. It's pretty quick. I don't think I'll do too much to it. I already have a 2nd set of wheels, will probably do brakes and a sway bar, and that may be it. Anyway, my infatuation with 911s gets worse every time I drive one on track. I love how they oversteer so heavily under trail braking (see God's gif. eheh), I really like the feedback through the controls, and how they bounce around under power, takes a good driver to be fast in one, really lively. It helps that often when I see somebody who can really drive, they're in a 911. I hung out with Randy Pobst for about 45 minutes Tuesday, we took his 675hp 911 twin turbo drifting around VIR, on street tires, oh what fun.

Ragged; Where'd you see me? I drove both cars yesterday. I did drift the Subaru next to a cop at 80mph on Wade, then jumped onto I-40, I'm retarded...

Quinn; That's probably true, but I only buy cars I want to own, none the less I'd say I'm more giddy than I have been since my 944 Turbo S, and that was a special car for me, so perhaps 4 years or so?

Tires never last me anywhere near 5k miles, though wide 18 inch tires are a bit more expensive

My WRX is a 2002 wagon, and if I can't sell my M3, I'll put this up for sale. I'm.. retarded.

I don't know if you're trying to be funny or being serious. I have noticed that many in the U.S. consider station wagons (or anything w/4 doors) "old man's car" (cue Quinn). To me it looks very attractive, though I'd even prefer a slightly stealthier look, but I guess you gotta have that intercooler where it is, and the hood scoop that comes w/it...

Dude I love wagons......i search for accord wagons on CL about once a month (with 2.5RS subaru, and 330ZHP for what that's worth)

4 door m3's are old man wagons. Unless he gave it to his high school son for a first car.

Personally I love wagons, however they have to look good. IMO the WRX wagon is quite ugly, blah

I too, love 911s. When it finally becomes financially possible for me I want a clean well maintained 993 C2. Ahh what a car. And if I can ever swing it, a 993 TT would be super.

Aftermarket front/rear sway bar and a good spring/strut combo and you're set for tarmac. If you want to go the cheap-o route, just get the rear sway bar and some good rubber and you'll have fun.

Yeah, and it's a sweet ride... Unfortunately it wasn't sold in the U.S.

I really like my WRX wagon, I'm going to switch to an MBC soon, and run a tad bit more boost. Looking at sway bars, and will put tires on it. I'm thinking about going to VIR in two weeks, not sure if I'll take the WRX up there, maybe if I can bring both cars. I'll look into it...

That Evo Wagon looks like 90% of a Volvo wagon. If I'm gonna have a Volvo I want it to say Volvo, not Mitsubishi on the back

The Volvo V70R's are quite hot. They weigh a bit much though, unfortunately. There's no RWD only fast wagon out there other than an M5, which weighs too much also, not to mention the price tag. All told, the WRX is the only feasible cool wagon that interested me, it's quick and fun to drive, reliable and light. My bike fits in it... Done.

I have had 2 850 T5s, and I actually have one now (passed it onto the GF). They're definitely cool, but they're not avail. in anything other than an auto FWD configuration in the U.S.

BTW, when I say throw the bike in the back, I mean without removing either of the wheels. My WRX barely does that, I'd be surprised if any non wagon hatch can (save for maybe a Saab 9-3 or something).
