So my 05 A4 warranty is up and I'm trying to decide whether or not to get an extended warranty (so far I've gotten one quote... 3 years for $2100 or 2 years for $1800). So my car is in excellent condition and only has about 31,000 miles on it so I figure I'll look and see the value of it is. So while I'm cruising around the internetz I go look at how much a 2009 A4 is and it appears...unless I'm missing something, that they're not making one with a manual transmission?????????? WHAT THE FUCK???????????

Does it have an option for DSG?
11/5/2008 2:56:17 PM
The A4 sedan and the S$ will have it as an option, the wagon may not have it but the others def. will[Edited on November 5, 2008 at 3:09 PM. Reason : d]

all I know is I want one.

I can't find an 09 A4 manual transmission anywhere...not on audiusa.com, yahoo doesn't even have any 09 A4s, cars.com doesn't have any manual transmissions either...... ???????????????????????????????edit: ok...apparently if you get to the right link on audiusa there is a manual transmission option... I just don't know why this seems to be the hardest thing to find[Edited on November 5, 2008 at 3:22 PM. Reason : ]

HAVE YOU TRIED THE AUDI WEBSITE?BE MY FIRST SHOT

^Did you read my post? I did.....durrrrr.... audiusa.comAnd you can't build a car with that option unless I'm missing something

Audi chicks are hot.
11/5/2008 3:24:46 PM
OK...now I'm on the Audi site...and I'm comparing models and there are no options for a manual anywhere, only tiptronic.....so I'm totally at a loss here....http://www.audiusa.com/audi/us/en2/new_cars/Compare.html?carlineLeft=%2Fetc%2Fvehiclestore%2F50710_en%2Fa4%2Fa4limo&modelLeft=8k256l_1&carlineRight=%2Fetc%2Fvehiclestore%2F50710_en%2Fa4%2Fa4limo&modelRight=8k25fl_1_gwptwpt

THAT WAS MY BAD, GL ON THE SEARCH
11/5/2008 3:52:36 PM
6MT B8 is not out yet.
11/5/2008 3:53:28 PM
^that was going to be my assumption. if it's not showing as an option, then it's not available yet. i can't imagine them taking the manual away from that car. generally speaking, manufacturers don't ever allow options to be added or cars to be "built" in general on their websites until they're sitting in the showroom. if you really want a quote on a manual car or are interested in purchasing, call a dealer. they should have access to it by now even though it's not available to the general public yet.

Why the hell would you want to buy a new warranty? With that type of mileage it would be much wiser just to pay out of pocket for repairs.
11/5/2008 4:07:19 PM
do want

just get the extended warranty. Don't get a new one yet, not worth the price+depreciation hit. Also, I think I talked a girl-friend of mine into buying an 07 RS4. It's fucking sick.
11/5/2008 4:41:35 PM
well my dad is friend's with one of the big dealers and I just got off the phone with them....the manual isn't coming out until around March of 09..... but they're giving me a hell of a deal on an extended warranty (at least I think it's a deal) so I'll probably go with that... 2yr/$1100 3yr/$1500 for the platinum one which covers everything except for tires and break pads..... I knew Beverly Hills Audi was overcharging...

11/5/2008 5:54:51 PM
With some specifics I can tell you exactly what kind of deal you are getting. Warranty is never cheap on Audi...I think when i looked my cost was like 4000 on a 4 yr 48k for my 2005 S4.
11/6/2008 10:02:58 AM
If your pops is homies with someone in the finance department they probably aren't making much or anything on the warranty. The have a cost they pay and can charge whatever they want for them, as long as it isn't below cost.

^^^ & ^^My dad is friend's with a Penske and has been for years so I'm sure it's the best deal...plus they're giving me a better deal than the MSRP so I think I'm good...I'm gonna go for 2/$1100 cause the 3yr deal is only about $100 savings and since this is the first time I've even owned a car long enough to have to get an extended warranty, I think that's probably safe....I want the new A5 though....... baaaaaaaaaaadly
11/6/2008 2:59:43 PM
Why are you wasting your money on an extended warranty?
11/6/2008 3:02:17 PM
why am I wasting my money? The car is completely paid off...it's only got 31,000 miles, it's in excellent condition....I have a chip in it....? Never mind that the new A4 with the manual trans isn't coming out until March or so, and then I'd find myself with a brand new warranty....and another $400+ monthly payment...
11/6/2008 4:23:22 PM
with mileage like that and the economy the way it is, it's simply retarded to buy another car. That generation A4 is a lot better than the older ones for reliability. I've got a friend with a manual tranny 04 with 100k (original owner) who hasn't had many problems with his.
11/6/2008 5:27:41 PM
DON'T GET THAT WARRANTY, SERIOUSLY.Especially if you're getting another car in just 3 or 4 more years. ]
11/6/2008 5:48:29 PM
For $1100 I'll chance that nothing goes wrong with my car and in the end I end up spending $1100 on nothing for 2 years because I have had to have odd things fixed on my car and the littlest things cost the most money half the time plus, I don't trust enough in my luck...
11/6/2008 7:08:36 PM
get the warranty. these retards don't realize that for most people, time is more important than the few bucks you save doing the work yourself on shit that breaks.warranty is cheap as shit, and one major service will pay for itself on your car. Though, if you only have ~30k on it in 3 years, the likelyhood of anything going wrong is pretty much nill.

will the warranty cover preventive maintenance such as timing belt and water pump? Or will it cover your turbo if applicable? Is it third party or from Audi as a CPO type deal? Will you be able to use it as leverage/selling point when trading in? If yes to any of those especially turbo coverage, jump on that immediately. I looked into an aftermarket warranty for an '01 A6 and decided it wasn't really worth it in the long run, even if my turbos had to be replaced.PS: only because the B8s are baller as fuck and you actually show decent taste mixed in with your usual 'look at me' threadposting did I choose to bite my tongue and attempt some contribution to the thread. Though I think I also threw some switchblade key-fob advice out there once too. http://audizine.comhttp://forums.audiworld.comhttp://audi-forums.com

errr....thanks I think???Well she sent me a crappy PDF copy of the warranty and she told me that while it's through another company (can't think of the name) it's the one Audi uses and they stand by it etc....I'd be getting the PlatinumFrom least to most....:

Just remember that if any stupid shit happens, like if your shit gets totaled you'll just be out that much money. Most of the time a warranty isn't worth it. How much do you drive each year? Maybe I missed that and it's incredibly high or something.I mean, that Saab I had is running in the mid 200k mile range right now and it still has the original stock turbo. Unless you drive 50k+ miles per year (And even then), it's not going to be worth it. They wont cover shit that's considered a "normal maintenance item" I'm sure. If they will cover that shit, then it *might* pay off in the end but it's still not likely unless you're driving something like 50k miles a year. Even then I doubt it would pay off if you're buying another car in 2 years. ]

I have an 05 A4 Cabriolet, I bought my car used with 9k on it, and I got Leith to throw in the 100k extended warranty as part of the deal. My factory warranty is about to end also, the only thing I didn't know about the extended warranty is that everytime you bring your car in for any kind of repair, its a $50 charge, doesn't matter if you're getting one thing fixed or ten. Not a bad deal at all, but just something I didn't know about...
11/6/2008 10:40:24 PM
^^you didnt even bother to read what she posted. It covers the timing belt and complete turbo assemblies. That alone is worth the peace of mind. I was a little suprised to see the CV boots specifically excluded, but those dont really fail on a California DD, ever. The biggest thing to get confirmation on is whether the warranty is transferable. If it is, it's an absolute no-brainer to get it, as it will help the resale value down the road (as long as it's still under the warranty)

^dude youve got to be kidding, a warranty like that for that little money is more worth it than not. not to mention the peace of mind part but you people are sitting here talking about what does and does not go wrong with a particular car at certain mileages, and that in and of itself is asinine. anything can break on any car at any time, regardless of how, where, whatever you drive. turbos can go, belts can snap and bend valves(dont car if its non-interference under normal operation or not), in a nutshell: shit happens.question you have to ask is that when shit happens do you want to pay twice that warranty to get it fixed or not?i say get the damn warranty regardless of how long you keep the car, clark howard is right many times but hes not perfect.
