So I bought this 1980 Honda XL250 for $250. It doesn't need too much other than a new rear tire and tube, turn signals, tail light, horn, paint, and a title. It also doesn't have a battery in it (kick start only anyway) but it originally came with one. The headlight will burn while the engine is running, so I guess the other lights will once I put them on.1. Is there any reason to put a battery on it?3. Is it fine to put a cold air intake type thing inplace of the big air box that is on there now? There are 2 drain hoses or something running out of the bottom of the air box.2. I need to get a title. What are the rules for getting a title for a "custom"?

1. Maybe.3. Why is 3 before 2? Leave the airbox like it is unless you want to rejet the carbs. It is probably there to shield it from minor water.2. If it's got a VIN you're going to have to title is for what it is. There have already been threads about titling a vehicle for which you don't have the title. It does not sound like a fun process.

i would recommend a liberal amount of vasoline applied between the ass cheeks before you even go into the dmv about that one

Put a battery in it so that when your dumb ass stalls out at an intersection at night you don't get creamed by an innocent motorist who does not have night vision goggles on.
