so im getting ready to lift it, however the dealership has said a lift that is not installed by them (the one they have approved) will completely void the warranty. ive got mixed info online so i was just wondering if anyone had similar experiences/input. Im mainly concerned that i wouldnt really even have any say on the lift i would be relying on but at the same time dont want to completely void a warranty if i can get around it.maybe you need more info, but i was just trying to get the question out there.

typically modifications only void the warranty for the parts they effect

true, but this particular dealership was claiming that i would no longer have a power train warranty if i installed a suspension lift - which i was unsure as to the reason. Ive found a few people talking about the magnusson moss act (probably spelled it wrong but im being lazy) which could? protect me but im not banking on it. and from what i would assume, a 3" lift wouldnt really change the angle of my driveshaft that bad.

They can be a real pain to deal with and will instantly blame any modification for a failure. It will be up to you to prove otherwise in most cases.the MMA does legally protect you though.

I would go pose this question to an off road / 4 wheeling forum; they'll tell you what's up.

it would only affect the suspension warranty, just like a cai or exhuast can only affect those warranties, not the enginesame thing as not having to have your vehicle serviced at the dealership, at leas the government is doing something rightgoogle it, i used to have a good link to that, but i'm at work right now

Call Jeep direct and get the word, the dealership has to abide.

if you go with bigger tires though they can claim your lift cause excessive stress on the drivetrain and your transmission/transfercase/axles/brakes etc. will all be voided.

yeah ive heard mixed comments on 4x4 forums, specifically jk-forum.com with people with the exact same jeep/problem - some dealers hate mods, some love them. the way i see it is its a jeep and its getting wheeled. i hate to make my decisions based on the dealer using their complaints as reason not to lift/get bigger tires/regear. its probably going to be done either way though, just hate to void my warranty. and it wouldnt be anything crazy since its still my daily driver.

it's the warranty or the mods, you decidecant expect a dealer to pay for busted parts because you trashed them

here's a good starting point to further your education on warranties and how they can be voided. follow the links off this page to educate yourself further.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnuson-Moss_Warranty_Act
