Lower prices or scam AT&T to lower the base cellphone talk plan.Basically, I'm cheap, yo.

i wish they'd stop their advertising campaign. even if it's true, i hate it when a company spends every single ad dollar on bashing the competition. and people wonder why mac users are generalized as snobs.having said that, i'm with Stein. but they have no reason to do so.

- iPhone on Verizon- lower price on newly released 24" LCD- wireless syncing and charging for all peripherals (mice, keyboard) and accessories (ipods, iphones)- "netbook" or "itablet" or whatever you want to call it. i.e. a touchscreen device somewhere between an iPhone and a MacBook- API for FrontRow- some kind of docking station, "mac style" of course, for Macbooks and MBPs. Since none of the laptops don't, and probably never will, have a docking port, something like the new LCD with the built-in power, sounds, USB and video cables might be the closest we'll ever get to a dock- include all the video cable adapters and ipod/iphone cables and docking stations with their products instead of charging extra- start pushing the next generation wireless standards, WiMax or 3G or whatever, by including antenna in all laptops- add Blu Ray drives as standard to all laptops

Practically I think they will need to move in to the enterprise and improve their server software. As far as consumer goods... an all in one time capsule/apple tv solution. similar to them combining a phone and the ipod in to the iphone. meh, I cant really imagine what they would do next other than lower prices, but they still have strong sales so there isnt really a reason to.Maybe extend their warranties to 4 years instead of 3, or start including mobile me as a default lifetime application with purchase of a new computer?I dunno, I really dont know...

putting aside everything listed here, I'd like to think that Apple has soemthing else up their sleeve that we completely haven't thought of yet. Not even sure what realm it would be in, but it would be great if at January MacWorld or a WWDC next year they bring out something revolutionary in a whole new market.

I dont understand why people like netbooks- Make mac mini/apple tv into a viable media center (they probably will do this next week, anyway). Aggregate media from dvrs/computer/ipods and make it work nice. It might seem like a crowded area, but I think all the good solutions now require hobbyist-type tinkering and expertise. Bringing these cool hobbyist things to the masses is their forte.[Edited on January 6, 2009 at 12:18 AM. Reason : .]

^^you ever traveled with a netbook vs a laptop? or hell even gone to class with one?it's kind of one of those use it a few times and you're hooked, unless your the kind of person that doesn't use the internet much[Edited on January 6, 2009 at 12:23 AM. I just ordered a samsung netbook. I can't wait. I have a laptop but i want someone that's small and used for internet. Also pairing it with my phone will allow for internet whereever i am. Plus the battery life on the 6-cell battery is 5-8 hours depending on how you use it. Won't get that kind of battery life with any laptop.

not sure why your iphone would come with a dvi-vga cable but I've got one in a drawer for every apple laptop i've purchased. so 3?
1/6/2009 2:23:33 AM
Yeah but my ipod didn't come with a wall charger. That really blows.
Last ipod I bought was the iPod video and it came with the wall charger and dock.iphone also came with the wall charger. the 2gen wall charger is a lot better then the 1gen iphone wall charger.
1/6/2009 2:34:31 AM
^really? I guess that makes sense. I hate how they stopped including a wall charger with the ipods. Not everyone has access to a computer like on vacation or something.
1/6/2009 2:49:11 AM
I'm not really sure how you pointing out you've got a drawer full of useless adapters is supposed to be a counterpoint to what you quoted anyway. last I checked a DVI->VGA adapter =/= "all the video cable adapters and ipod/iphone cables and docking stations"
1/6/2009 3:23:56 AM
i, too, didn't get a mini-dvi to vga when i bought my macbooki did get one with the iBook i bought back in like 2001

I second (or third?) iPhone for Verizon. I used my brother's iPhone over the holidays, and I must admit, I loved it. I thought about getting the BB Storm for just to have something like it, but most of the reviews I've seen have given it OK ratings at best.

1/6/2009 1:22:43 PM
our 2 macbook pros (that are 1.5 years old now) came with the vga/dvi adapters. my brother's regular macbook (2 years old) did not. mine and my parents' imacs didn't come with anything but a power cord and a little remote (1 year old).my ipod (30gb - the first ones w/ video), Fumbler's nano (the short fat kind), and mom's nano (just got it for xmas) all came with dock adapters. of the 3 ipods, only mine came with a wall charger thing.just for the record.

I thought they were supposed to be releasing new Mac Minis today. I wanted one with a dual tuner HDTV card in it. I would have placed my order today. Stupid rumor sites getting my hopes up.
1/6/2009 1:34:43 PM
yeah, i know i can buy 3rd party hardware to make it happen, but most PC laptops have native support for multiple external monitors. My old T43 Thinkpad and my current T61p both support dual external monitors without the need to buy third party hardware, which is far from an elegant solution.
