started studying for BCMSN. i decided to make the CCNP my next priority. any advice ? the reading seems pretty interesting.

just got the "Authorized Study Guide" $70 from ciscopress. Its seems a little smoother than the other books I checked out.

i'll give it 2 weeks before taking the test. i've done alot of this stuff already.

not too hard, but like all the tests, making sure you understand each topic in the book is a must before taking the test

you have to account for the stupid questions you know you will get wrong
not knowing an entire topic will kill you

just my 2 cents

Ive got this book. I started on it but then was hired to work in wireless instead of the lan section of IT services for my University.

BCMSN now includes wireless. i skimmed the wireless chapter and it was more helpful than the book i used to study for the AWLANFE cert.

i think getting the CCNP is sort of fundamental. i'm doing it before going for the CWSP and CCVP.

the people that wrote that book need full time proof readers/editors. Its only time they have ever written anything in clear english.

Read the book, play with the gear, take the test.

While its possible to pass the NA without actually using the equipment, this ones going to require a little hands on play and planning to make a good go at it.

^^ yup I plan to knock the CCNA Wireless out, then its NP/IP, and Im still leaning towards the CCIE Service Provider instead of R/S.

But if I make it in the ASE program I dont have a choice really, its NA/DA, NP/DP, when IE written. Sooo... meh.

I do agree though, the self study CCNP switching book is much more well written than other cisco press books have historically been.

^ i know. i'm surprised. i was debating paying the extra $10 bucks or not ... i bought my in the store at Barnes and Nobles for $75, but I figured its a good addition to the library. and I get all this recouped when I finish the CCNP. i think in books and tests it'll be about $1000. i have a dynamips server too and access to any gear I need. i just realized how screwed up it'd be not to get it being that I have access to the gear and all my cost are refunded.

the average cost in materials and testing fees to actually get an IE is close to 10k these days.
