I just hooked up my surround system, and I'm having trouble getting the audio from the cable box to play through it rather than play through the TV.[When I say R/L output or input, I mean the red and white ports that are labeled R and L. I don't know what the names of these are]The surround system has various digital/optical inputs and one analog R/L input. The Cable box has an Audio Out R/L output, digital output (coax, same end as the R/L ports), and the "cable signal out" port. The TV has the standard HD and below inputs, plus an Analog Out port. There is a coaxial cable (one of those really thick ones that screw on) that goes from the cable box to the TV. This is normally the only point of interaction between the TV and the cable box.I've tried connecting the Analog Out ports of both the cable box and the TV to the surround system, but no matter what I do the TV will only play sound out of its internal speaker. I go into the settings and set whatever I can to Analog on both systems, but nothing changes. (I do set the surround system to "Analog" and "Digital" but nothing works)Playing my Xbox 360 through the surround system is no problem, because I have a digital (optical) connection between the two and once I set the system to that input setting, it works perfectly. What do I have to do to get the cable or TV audio signal to play out of the surround system? I'm guessing I'll have to remove the thick coaxial cable, since it seems to be overriding any settings...

take one of theseplug it into the digital out on the TWC box and into your reciever. choose an input. tell the receiver to use the digital in as the audio source for the input you chose.the cable between the TV and the cable box has nothing to do with it.

THIS JUST INI was using two different cables for one connection >_> Thanks though, I wasn't sure that those cables could be used for the digital connections
