My 96 Honda Accord shows the "Check Engine Light" on. I went to Autozone but they said they can diagnose only cars 1997 and onwards. Does anyone know what are the likely causes for this and how/where/who can diagnose and fix it?Thanks!

i think on 96 there are only 3 total codes. i would think a mechanic could diagnose it.

"What year is your car?"-"2003""Oh, so sorry man, our machine only reads 2004 and newer."96 is ODBII, they just didn't want to deal with your shit.-----------------------------------------------------------Go to another Advance or Autozone, they'll scan it free. Let us know what code it gives, we might can help.[Edited on October 16, 2008 at 10:24 PM. Reason : .]

Who cares unless you are up for inspection.

^ if it's something like an O2 sensor it will affect gas mileage and driveability. If it's maybe an EVAP code it's more likely to just prevent you from passing inspection.
