just got back from being gone about a week to NYC and walked out to drive my car earlier today. The remote lights up and acts like it wants to unlock the car and disengage the alarm but it doesnt.i can get into the car with the keys and the alarm goes off of course, even does when i kick the tires so the wiring is fine. when i try to start its got a kill shut off so it wont start.any ideas?its a 2000 MR2 spyder and no clue what kind of security other than Viper, it was on when i bought it.

there's probably a way to manually disarm it so you might want to try google unless you have the book for it laying around.[Edited on October 15, 2008 at 4:58 PM. Reason : ]

try flipping it into valet mode and turning the ignition to on then back to off without trying to start it 3x.

pull out the brain, then find the ignition relay and bypass(short) it...

so i found the valet button, turns out the button doesnt work...i then cut the wires and tried just touching them together to complete the circuit and that didnt work either.basically i have a car that serves no purpose but to make the sound of an alarm at the momentif anyoneeeeeeeeeeeee knows anything about them please please please helpi cant drive anywhere without it until later this weekend when I have to go back and get my 8mpg jeep

Check the ignition fuse (or relay) you might have popped it when you shorted the wires together... but more likely you missed the path...[Edited on October 16, 2008 at 7:26 PM. Reason : PS: I didn't think you would ACTUALLY do what I said]

just pull out the battery to shut it upthen remove it and then chalk this one up in the lose column

^^^how do you know the valet switch doesn't work? it won't turn the alarm off just by flipping it if it's already going off. you have to do the proper key sequence. i'm not exactly sure what the key sequence is for the viper but i thought the on-off 3 times with the key in the ignition was correct. have you tried calling the installer?

Ive never seen an alarm that you couldnt remove the brain completely and the car go right back to normal.

follow the starter wire and find the interrupt and bypass it. probably your only option now.

How about ask on MR2 forums where people actually know wtf to do?
