who uses it? Can you offer some opinions about it. Has anyone ever had any really bad experiences with it?Is it hard to be prescribed?
10/5/2008 6:43:51 PM
people with a.d.d. or a.d.h.d. mostly use it. It will make you lose sleep the first few times you take it. You have to have a pretty good reason to get it.

my husband was prescribed it to keep him awake due to the medicines he was taking that usually made him sleep - he became addicted to it and then when he was taken off of it, he resorted to energy drinks every hr to feel like he was 'normal' againI was prescribed it to help me concentrate in school due to stress I was under - I took it maybe a week, and the entire time I felt so bad - it made my heart race, gave me headaches, I couldn't concentrate at all, I absolutely just blew up at everyone, I refused to take it after that - same thing happened to me with ritalin, will never take it againwhy do you need it?

^ not in all situations, when you're on the verge of a nervous breakdown because things are just falling apart in your world and you don't want to drop out of school so you try to get a little help in focusing because your mind concentrates on the 9 billion other things that are fucking up your life at that moment, it might just help - in my case, it was the complete opposite and made me feel like shit, but in no way did I not have any will power, I just refused to give up[Edited on October 5, 2008 at 8:59 PM. http://www.erowid.org, look up "amphetamines".Or just go take a small dose (5-10 mg), not like its gonna kill you.
10/5/2008 9:02:52 PM
using adderall solely as a finals cram/study aid is just as cheap and pathetic as juicing in professional sports in my opinion
10/5/2008 9:06:48 PM
helps me stay attentive and find the lecture entertainingif i take a full days dose at once my mind goes a mile a minute and i can study like crazy and usually retain a good amount of itbad side is i usually have trouble falling asleep that night when i actually want to. it also can cause me to stress the fuck out
10/5/2008 9:34:16 PM
Is not worth it. The crash afterward is BAD, NCSU student health will not rx it (or only extremely rarely), and honestly doesn't make much difference. I used it when I was having issues so bad I could read a paragraph and have no clue what was in it by the time I got to the end. I took it because I had to do something to stay in school, but holy crap it's annoying. Only thing worse is Provigil. Holy crap can not take that unless I can be up for 20+ hours, smaller doses than what does that to me have no effect at all.

i took it the night before i moved and packed just about all my belongings in one night.. what sucked the worse was that i was graduating the day after i stayed up all night so i looked like complete shit in all my graduation pictures... but whatever, it got the job done.i've also taken it one night before a concert and had the best time of my life.. but it made me sweat a lot.

I've been taking Adderall for the past few months to control ADD. It's worked very well for me. It's also helped control my mild narcolepsy, which i recently was diagnosed with a while back.Adderall is an amphethamine-based stimulant medication often used for ADD and sleep disorders similar to narcolepsy. It can potentially slow an over-active ADD brain down to normal levels, and it can also reduce habitual sleepiness by speeding your heart-rate and bodily function up.Use www.webmd.com to learn more about any medication or condition that treats it.That said, everybody reacts differently to Adderall. The same is true for any other ADD treatment. I had to experiment with several drugs before settling on Adderall. My experiences (and everyone else's) with Adderall will have absolutely no impact on whether you or someone you know will react favorably to it. Also, do not take this drug without having it prescribed to you by a doctor. This drug acts like speed to someone who does not have a condition treated by it. They can be addictive and they can cause a loss of sleep, muscle spasms, and stomache pains... and that's just the COMMON symptoms.Feel free to PM me if you have more Q's. I did a lot of research on the subject when I was diagnosed in Jan 07.And yeah, that means I graduated college with undiagnosed ADD and narcolepsy. I deserve a medal or something [Edited on October 6, 2008 at 12:45 PM. Reason : wd]

^ I'm right there with you man. I need 20mg every 4 hours, so I take Adderall XR (40 mg) for a 10-12 hour dose and follow-up with another 6-hour generic Adderall (20mg) as needed. In layman's terms I take enough amphetamines to make a 6-year-old who just downed a 2-Liter of mountain dew in 60 seconds look sedate
10/6/2008 2:22:48 PM
the majority of graduate students everywhere use some form of prescription "study aid".I have a friend that uses it off label for mild narcolepsy. That person swears by it. I also read that doctors are starting to prescribe adderall for overweight kids, since a side effect is a small appetite.

adderall and dexedrine (which i assume is the close to being the same) is the miracle weight loss drug that nobody except users know about. if you're fat and take this drug then don't stop taking it because you'll be really fat without it.
10/6/2008 6:55:43 PM
adderall = mix of the levo/dextro rotations and a couple of other amphetamine salts depending on the versiondexedrine = straight dextroamphetamine
10/6/2008 7:01:22 PM
^Yeah. It has the tendency to do that. I remember taking it once before studying for my European History final. All of a sudden, the industrial revolution of the 1800s became the most important occurrence in the history of the world. It has a few downsides though. One, it seems to wear you out the following day (assuming you're taking it casually). To me, it's like someone opens my brain and washes it with molasses. That and it dehydrates the hell out of you. Seriously, I'll drink jugs of water and still feel dried out.[Edited on October 6, 2008 at 11:39 PM. Reason : ]

One of the adverse effects of using it when you don't really need to is that it makes you a sorry sack of shit that can't actually hold his own in school and needs to prop himself up with chemicals in order to function in the same way that many of us manage to do on our own.
10/7/2008 2:48:29 AM
It's like you guys really have no grasp of the fact that you're taking an amphetamine (In fact, adderall is a mixture of amphetamines). That's "SPEED" for those of you who are less knowledgeable.
10/7/2008 3:18:26 AM
10/7/2008 11:17:28 AM
[Quote]NO, IT ACTS LIKE SPEED FOR EVERYBODY, BECAUSE IT ACTUALLY IS SPEED. AMPHETAMINES = SPEED. THEY DON'T "ACT LIKE SPEED," THEY ARE SPEED. The difference is that when speed is indicated to treat your problems, the benefits outweigh the negatives. Plus, once you use it regularly for a long enough time it stops having so many side effects because you build a tolerance[quote]"Acts like" was a poor choice of words. I should have said that the EFFECTS of Adderall are similar to that of speed if you don't have a condition needing treatment.
