^ Spontaneous: I'm at two hours a day now, since I'm so close to contest. But the majority of my gains (cuts in this case =p) were made on a 90 minute training routine. But since I'm forcing my body into single digit body fat % for these last couple of weeks it takes a little more time in the gym. A lot of vegetarians use soy protein (if they tolerate it well) I believe. But one downside, is that soy protein is quite rich in isoflavones which raises your estrogen levels. Thats not really ideal for a man trying to gain lean muscle mass.

You have to ingest a shit ton of tofu in order for the isoflavones to significantly affect you.Flax and some nuts and legumes also have isoflavones. A serving here and there isn't bad.

^ Make sure you drink PLENTY of water when you supplement with whey protein. You should also make sure to get your daily needs in fiber. Those two things combined will help tremendously with your large intestine difficulties.Also, if you have a tendency towards lactose intolerance, its worth noting that most whey protein preparations are moderately high in lactose. If you purchase high quality preparations which are predominently whey protein isolate (as opposed to whey protein concentrate) you may have fewer problems tolerating it. The higher quality proteins go through a process called ion-exchange and ultra or microfiltration which removes the impurities (usually sugars and high molecular weight proteins). ON-Gold Standard Whey protein is one of the cheapest proteins which is predominantly whey protein isolate. She posted that info in another thread. It was pretty impressive. It was like 2 circuits of 10 sets of 6 reps on all the machines (different muscle groups of course). Limited cardio, but aaprior is trying to maintain muscle size I believe. I also could be way the fuck off base.
