This applies to mostly everyone, everywhere, in this country....When dealing with any the 2 parties, if you're debating with the other....If you're a Democrat you support and defend democrats no matter what..... If you're a Republican you support and defend republicans no matter what.Election time is when admitting to a difference of opinion with someone in your own party or pointing out a factual error that someone in your own party makes is considered a sign that you are conceding that your party as well as all the opinions on the issues of your party, are wrong. It's like people put blinders on and look straight ahead instead of actually talking about anything.I also find it interesting that until last night, I was under the assumption, based on what I've heard since forever, that gay marriage views are shared by both parties. I've heard from more than one of my gay friends that they would never vote for the Reps because they don't support gay marriage.....which is true.....but neither do the Dems...]]

the gay marriage debate kind of came down to semanticsalso it was clear that neither of them were comfortable talking about it, and they both were obviously relieved when the moderator said lets move on to whatever the next topic was

So in conclusion: It doesn't actually matter what either side actually believes because in the end, almost everyone is going to vote for their own party. It comes down to who there are more of....Republicans or Democrats. How sad for this country.

yeah its like a 6th grade student body president race in elementary school...its a popularity contest based on false promises...nothing new unfortunately...its just bigger and older children running and participating in these elections

I lose faith in humanity around these times

Kind of like how Obama is against abortion but thinks it should be a womans right to choose.
10/3/2008 5:43:04 PM
Well to be honest with you, I think it's a bad thing when you vote for someone based on what the party traditionally supports. I mean if that were the case then why bother having candidates at all?
10/3/2008 5:55:33 PM
Did you complain about the two-party system when Bush was running for President? Doubt it.
10/3/2008 6:15:13 PM
Well I voted for Kerry then so.....
10/3/2008 6:25:47 PM
kerry sucked donkey boner

This country is going to continue to decline until there is a politician that can seriously "step across the aisle" and transcend party politics, and do something to actually unite the country.Easier said than done I know, but it's definitely not this election as much as both candidates like to say it.Kelsey Grammar said in an interview today the country is in a Civil War just not with fighting, and it's going to continue to tear the country apart because neither side wants to back down. And if Frasier Crane says it, it's good enough for me, he is a doctor you know.

I think the tragedy is that she didn't die. Fortunately she's far surpassed menopause so at least she won't add any more of her to the world

You have given me even more reason to vote. Thank you.
10/3/2008 7:20:01 PM
So some lady decides she'd rather be dead than evicted. Her attempt at death fails, but she succeeds in manipulating the system and wins. So what message does this send to everyone else?
10/3/2008 8:09:44 PM
That you're an idiot.
10/3/2008 8:10:33 PM
Well if I'm an idiot because I think that people shouldn't be rewarded for bad behavior, then I guess that makes me one of those silly 'take personal responsibility' people
10/3/2008 8:15:57 PM
whats a 90 year old doing buying a new house anyway? is that what she needed? more space for her old ass self to take care of?]
10/3/2008 8:20:01 PM
I feel bad for the woman, but do not feel like giving her a free house. Maybe they could have floated her rate down or something so she was still paying or something and let her stay there? I mean Fannie Mae is not really in a position to be forgiving loans entirely right now.

I think the original poster had a great point and it's why people hate politics. To quote Gov. Palin:
10/3/2008 9:34:48 PM
kinda turns you off to both parties, doesnt it?
10/3/2008 9:39:22 PM
^^Someone wise once told me that there's a difference between being trustworthy and being honest. Politicians in America grasp that distinction exquisitely, I'm afraid.

I just don't see Palin making statements like this.

Why is that broad from chit chat in here all the time now?
10/4/2008 10:51:19 PM
because it's a free country and just because you don't agree with me that doesn't mean I can be shut up OK?!?!/!THIS IS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA DAMN ITbut seriously....being in here just makes me mad at people on here I wouldn't normally be mad at so I can see why there is 10x as much hatred
10/5/2008 12:41:00 AM
^^ Palin's making all the other airheads uppity.
