Any recommendations for place in Raleigh to replace a 2000 S-10 manifold? I might do it myself, but I really don't want to drive out to my folk's place near Greensboro just to do this.

Man, I just want to get in and out of this thing as quick and cheap as possible. It's a daily driver and waaay past inspection.

it's probably rusted to all hell and may require cutting tools to separate from the rest of the exhaust.

^ what he said. I don't want to get halfway into this and not have the stuff I need here in Raleigh to finish the job.

This is starting to become a big pain in my ass. Turns out this damn thing was one of the flex-fuel engines, and nobody's got a replacement other than ordering through the dealer for $$$$. Anybody recommend a welding shop that can handle cast iron?

why not but an aftermarket header if you cant get one at the dealeror try a salvage yardwhat's so special about the flex fuel version?

For whatever reason, nobody has this damn thing in stock. I think this particular header was only around for 1 year. OEM is going to run about $450. A regular manifold runs about $125 at autozone, and cheaper at salvage.I called 3 salvage yards, and nobody could come up with anything. Ended up taking it to Sapps in Garner. The PO had wire-welded this damn thing before, so they're going to grind that down and try to nickle weld it. Should know something first thing in the morning. Assuming they can actually weld this, I'm going to have the garage use all-new bolts and anti-seize when they put it back on so I can do the inevitable replacement myself. My wife cracked the shit out of her windshield last month on her XB and is up for inspection as well, thus the need to do this on the cheap. I'd JB weld the shit out of it if I thought I could get away with it.

I don't know that you want them to use anti-seize on header bolts. Constant heat cycling and vibration is enough to loosen them up all the time without the anti-seize.I'd weld it, get it inspected, and then keep a close eye on eBay with some saved searches and e-mail alerts. When the right header comes up go ahead and buy it. Removing the bolts won't be difficult if you do it in the next few months.

That's pretty much the plan. Good call on the anti-seize.
