(wizofodds)Last week, the Southeastern Conference was proclaimed the best in the land for 2008. This week it's the Big 12. Total nonsense, of course, because more than half of the teams have been getting fat on cupcake opponents. A true test is to compare how the Bowl Championship Series conferences have fared against each other for the past 10 seasons. For the answer, we once again turned to Ed Gunther of National Championship Issue. We compared conference vs. conference records, including bowl games, from 1998-2007. By percentage, the Pacific 10 won 54.5% of its games against BCS opponents. Here is the breakdown:Pacific 10: 54.5%Southeastern: 50.8%Big Ten: 50.5%Atlantic Coast: 50%Big 12: 48.8%Big East: 45.9%Two surprising numbers. First, the Big East was only 10-20 against the Big Ten. Second, the SEC was only 8-17 against the Big East. Here's the data. Have at it. As always, click a chart for an expanded view.

This is not telling of how good each conference is.....When USC beats UVA...it doesn't show that Pac10>ACCSEC trumps all. Anyone that knows football knows that.

yeh but it shows more of a conference average when playing each other... Same case could be argued when Miss state plays Clemson

Notice how the Pac-10 played less games than all of the other conferences. I assume it because they have 1-2 less teams than the other conferences or it could be that they are scheduling more cupcakes and then get up for their occasional BCS opponent game. Also the ACC pwns the Big Least - eat it NyM410. Big East dick sucker.

^It's more of a travel factor than scheduling cupcakes I believe, coupled with having 10 teams. Remember all the talk on UT going to Cal in 07 and then to UCLA in 08? Nobody wants to travel 2,000 miles to play an OOC game.

^^^I'm just giving you a hard time, I noticed you spelled it correctly in your actual post. I had to say something, b/c it made me think of Gomer Pyle's "soo-prize soo-prize soo-prize!"
