They got great rates now. 5% on 12 month CD @ Wamu. 4% for savings.
Wachovia has 4.15% on 12 month cd.

Is it too risky? FDIC is supposed to gaurantee all the depositor's money and their interests..

Technically, Wachovia did NOT fail. It was bought out and merged. There is no expected draw from the FDIC. I think you'd be just fine.

Damn.. WaMu's CD's must've gone up a lot.. I had a CD with them for 4 years in high school and used the money I saved to buy a car but the rate was way lower than that.

Wachovia merged with Citibank.
Citibank also has good savings at 3.5% apy... tempting to open.....
advice or any experiences on citibanks?

i have a credit card with citibank, i have no complaints, but i've never had to call customer service...

I just told my parents to sign up for the 5% deal. There's nothing to worry about.
