well that is just asinine another way the two party system stifles the little guyshe meets all the requirements for president, im voting for him
9/30/2008 8:50:33 AM
McCain 8 years ago vs Obama 8 years from now would have been a much better election.[Edited on September 30, 2008 at 8:51 AM. Reason : a]
9/30/2008 8:51:22 AM
voting Barr so I may as well be abstaining.
9/30/2008 9:02:14 AM
^^You gotta assume that McCain is the same guy he was 8 years ago. He's just altered his rhetoric for the purposes of the election so he doesn't get burned like before.I mean, back in the day, he was pro-choice. Now he says he'll be a "pro-life president." McCain as a pro-lifer? Whatever, that guy predates birth control. You know he paid for at least a couple abortions in his day.
9/30/2008 9:10:25 AM
Yeah... that is all i can hope forand wasn't obama 12 8 years ago ??[Edited on September 30, 2008 at 9:14 AM. Reason : still not voting for him though..]
9/30/2008 9:14:24 AM
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/us/general_election_mccain_vs_obama-225.htmlIt seems a lot of people are thinking like you... as McCain drops, Obama remains stagnant. You're probably all just racist
9/30/2008 9:50:36 AM
Another way to look at it is that few folks particularly *like* McCain/Palin, those who support him just dislike obama that much.
9/30/2008 10:03:39 AM
i never thought I would write in, always told myself itd be the lesser of two evils who got my vote but I dislike them both so much I might actually dont think I see enough positives in either to do that
9/30/2008 10:22:28 AM
How can you dislike Obama more than either Kerry or Gore?Really, how can you dislike McCain more than Bush? Or did you write in for them too?
9/30/2008 12:45:54 PM
You guys should seriously considering voting.Even if it is a comparison exercise of what's more appetizing: a booger pie or shit sandwich....you STILL would want a say in that matter wouldn't you?

I can't vote for Barr. He isn't remotely Libertarian, I don't know what the fuck the LP was thinking.
9/30/2008 7:38:31 PM
9/30/2008 11:49:30 PM
^ you realize though that few things change over night. Abstaining does no good, your best course of action is to work the averages, and try to "pull" things in the direction you want them to go.
9/30/2008 11:56:45 PM
The vast tide of humanity in NC will always vote Republican in presidential elections(for the next few decades anyway). If you vote Democrat, your vote doesn't matter. If you vote Republican, your vote still doesn't matter. Even if there was a third party candidate on the ballot, your vote wouldn't matter. Even if your vote did somehow miraculously influence the outcome in NC, our electoral votes would be overwhelmed by rest of the south/midwest, who will also always vote republican.Do yourself a favor and spend more time researching local elections instead.
10/1/2008 12:09:16 AM
^ are you serious?NC is a swing state this year:http://www.electoral-vote.com/Obama was even up sometime last week. And "intrade" has NC going Obama this year, for now.
10/1/2008 12:12:40 AM
No state that spent a full month mourning the passing of Jesse Helms on every major TV station is going to elect a black man. Everyone knows polls are full of shit. The relatively few people that participate in them pale in comparison to the vast unpolitical masses that turn out on election day to vote a straight ticket.
10/1/2008 12:22:59 AM
^ obama to a certain extent has been transcending racism (he's half white you know).I think people, at the least, are at the point when they'll vote their wallet despite the colored man.
10/1/2008 12:24:47 AM
I take a more cynical view, but we'll find out soon enough.
10/1/2008 12:26:04 AM
Jesse Helms was an NC Senator. It makes sense he was mourned here a little longer than everywhere else.
10/1/2008 12:47:13 AM
I rest my case.

10/1/2008 1:40:50 PM
Your observation was not only adolescent, it was for the most part a completely inaccurate parody of those you were trying to ridicule.Self-own +1
10/1/2008 3:16:30 PM
What changed your mind, Socks``?I can't believe I spent about 6 years looking forward to this election...
10/1/2008 4:19:24 PM
This will be the first time ever that I vote. This election is simply too important to skip out on. For once, I want to be able to say that I did my part.
10/1/2008 4:34:45 PM
Don't let the Obama commericals lie to you, kids! Doing your "part" is more than just ticking a box on a ballot. It involves paying taxes, military service, community service, paying your taxes, etc. Don't rest on your laurels!Str8fool, piss off. You are an alias troll. Go hide under a bridge.
10/1/2008 4:51:55 PM
Oh my. Community service and paying taxes is tantamount to slavery!
10/1/2008 7:59:47 PM
Does anyone here actually want a president or congress? Fuck, I don't. I just want to be left alone to work and spend as I see fit. If that means that I get paid in certificates redeemable for x pounds of wheat instead of $ bills then so be it. Government in its current state sucks cock and balls.Seriously, I'm voting Barr, not that I'm excited about it, but he's better than the other choices. If I were inclined to vote R or D I'd just find somebody else who was voting the other way, we'd agree to stay home and we'd call it a day.
10/1/2008 8:18:39 PM
You have got to be kidding me.
10/1/2008 8:40:21 PM
Nope, I find government pretty unpalatable and basically useless to me on a personal level. I don't think it makes much difference which party controls the house or presidency. My preference is gridlock. The more the better. I'd like to see a marginal control of both houses by one party (no more than 55-45) and the presidency by the other party so that neither one can force through their particular brand of big government nonsense. It's all tax and spend politics, they just differ slightly on what they want to spend it.
10/1/2008 8:50:58 PM
10/1/2008 8:52:13 PM
If you mean that the ability of human beings to live together in a civilized fashion is due to government I would disagree. Government really only becomes useful once you reach the amount of people needed to cause conflict on a general scale and then only to moderate that conflict. However it always ends up being bloated way out of proportion to that one really necessary function. I've often hypothesized about what that exact number is.
10/1/2008 8:56:14 PM
It's not a law of nature that government gets too bloated. The idea is to control it so that it is as effective as possible at the minimal set of things it's warranted to operate on.Everybody agrees on this ideal. The disagreement comes is asking what that minimal set of things includes.
10/1/2008 9:00:00 PM
Well, yes, but if your idea of the minimal set of things it should do, is pretty much everything, that's bloated. We long ago passed the point of an efficient government and now have a bloated, all encompassing, amoebic monstrosity.Frankly I think this has a lot to do with our being a representative democracy.
