It really does suck for Yates. On an individual level, I actually feel bad for him.

But as a state fan, there's no sympathy for UNC

Now we're just gonna see Paulus get better and better. This is bad news. Early experience ala rivers.

you should be suspended off this board for even thinking of comparing Paulus to Rivers. If Paulus was even close to Rivers he would have started out of the gate "ala" rivers.....

And his brother def chose the wrong path playing bball instead of football. Yeah he can say we played bball at Duke but he will have to learn another language to tell people he plays pro ball.

^Greg Paulus might not be that good in football either. Remember, he was a McD AA in basketball in HS also.

LOL, can't wait to see Miami's defense put Paulus int he ground over and over again next week.

Even if he is horrible, he still has Nicks, Tate, and Foster to help him out.

It doesn't matter if he's as good as Rivers or not. Anytime a young qb gets start time early it pays dividends down the road. Thats what I meant with the Rivers part. Anytime you have an experienced qb the more talented frosh isn't going to play until he loses the job... Just like Wilson with Evans and Pryor with Boeckman. Everybody knows UNC hasn't reached their max yet so in a few years when they are a very talented team, Paulus having played now will be huge for them. And thats whats scary...

wilson won the job in camp, sir.

[Edited on September 22, 2008 at 11:17 AM. Reason : i guess you mean he didn't win it last year... but paulus is the same class as wilson.]

^ lol seriously, how much thought is put into these troll posts, young inexperienced QBs have never had a track record of being successful in College football. Rivers is special.

some examples, Beecher, Clausen, T. Taylor (despite beating UNC).

I'm sure Paulus is better once he has a week to prepare and doesn't have momentum against him. But if he sits around and makes some decisions like he did Saturday, Miami may injure another one.

In wethebests defense, Wilson had a hard time overcoming the staff and his choice to redshirt last year to win the starting job. It's tough to actually start when you're redshirting.

Who cares about Paulus, he's completely unproven. You guys remember another highly touted QB by the name of Marcus Stone?

Maybe Paulus can play TE

Latest I saw said he's out at least 6 weeks but doesn't require surgery. He could potentially be returning around the time of our game with them, but it could be the rest of the season depending on how long it takes to rehab.

I think this will be good for the UNC team in the long run honestly. Yeah they might miss out on a bowl this year, but they'll break in Paulus and could potentially have 2 young QBs with experience going forward.

Lifted from other thread:

Quote :
"I am not overly thrilled with the news. I like State playing UNC both at their full potential. It makes for games like last years. We both have major injuries, but there will always be fans that say whoever wins didn't beat the other team at their full potential."

Maybe UNC will have about 14 more starters get injured so we'll be on the same playing level... here's to hoping.

I still remember Ernie predicting that TJ Yates would play in the NFL before RW. I honestly did not think either had a shot of ever seeing an NFL field. Amazing what RW has done. Fuck TJ Yates.
