I don't know if it has to do w/ the fact that I've been watching the british version recently on the BBC, but this season on FOX blows........

the BBC version is far superior to the US version.

It's shocking how dumbed down they made the US version. They must think that americans are all simpletons -- americans demand make overs, americans demand cloying bullshit, americans don't have the attention span to see a dish get made.

excellent use of the word cloying, and I agree the American version blows. The UK version at least showed people how to run a restaurant

Remember the American version is on FOX, and that network doesn't know how to have normal programming.

i watched the first one a couple weeks ago, and i was blown away at how contrived and scripted the whole thing was.
I saw a couple episodes last season, and even then it was still pretty easy to pick up on the week-to-week formula, but it wasn't so bad. I have seen several of the BBC ones too, and they are actually really great.

But the first one on Fox this season was just ridiculous in how unbelievable everyone was acting. It was literally as if there was a producer off-camera the entire episode directing their every move, so they could be sure to get a good narrative with build-up, suspense, disaster, recovery, happiness, etc.
And then all the talking heads, it was again like they were reading a script. With the owner with the stupid mustache:
first 5 minutes - "I'm so happy to have Chef Ramsey here. He is world-renowned and has a lot to teach us."
15 minutes - "Chef Ramsey has some interesting ideas. I'm not sure how they really fit in with my overall theme, though"
30 minutes - "Chef Ramsey is a fucking idiot. He doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about"
35 minutes - "Fuck this all. I'm leaving. For realzies"
45 minutes - "You know, maybe I should give Chef Ramsey a second chance"
55 minutes - "This has been an amazing experience. Over the past hour, I have learned that I am a complete douchebag and I don't know how to run a restaurant, and Chef Ramsey is a genius and super human"

I forget. Does the british one even have the little interview clips throughout the episode?

The BBC version usually shows Ramsey's personal views in several spots. They ALWAYS have the scene where he takes off his shirt and puts on his button-up chef's shirt. Can't figure that out. The BBC version is a lot better than the US one. The US one seems to have caught the Maury AIDS or something, I really prefer the BBC one.

I recorded the rest b/c I wanted to see how it turned out.

I thought earrings were gonna come off when that same owner went to that table that had sandy oysters and told them thats how they were and blah blah blah...."did we just get reprimanded?"

What channel is bbc america on local (triangle) TWC?

The FOX version, espcially the current season 2, is gastly compared to the Chanel4 version. This show is bloody good. It's a shame FOX has to butcher the show with so much bullshit drama.
