^^ yep. it seems that the electorate is now so stupid and ignorant that the contest has to be boiled down into a few buzzwords, such as "change", "maverick", or in the case of 2004, "flip-flopper".
9/18/2008 3:22:26 PM
^ some people are trying to bring "waffle" in to this one.
9/18/2008 3:23:44 PM
McCain's claim here is pure bullshit. his against regulation in any form and is attempting to pull off some sort of populist message, but it won't fly.
9/18/2008 3:25:35 PM
^ It could fly, but McCain's 2 past incidents where he claims he's not that good with economic issues are going to come back and haunt him.In any case, i'm not convinced the short uptick rule is what caused the credit crunch we're experiencing, so I don't see why he's harping on that.
9/18/2008 3:28:46 PM
Yeah uh he can't do thathttp://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/09/mccain-blasts-o.html
9/18/2008 4:19:42 PM
Hmmmmm yeah, I'd rather fire them all. Obama '08!

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/09/mccain-blasts-o.htmlhhahaWHOOPS!
9/18/2008 5:06:17 PM
^ That was posted just 2 posts above you. That's a lame line of attack though, i'm sure if the president wanted to, he could force out the SEC chairman without repercussion, if it was warranted.
9/18/2008 5:08:56 PM
9/18/2008 5:10:11 PM
^^NO SHIT?!i'm aware of that. i meant to quote and link it[Edited on September 18, 2008 at 5:12 PM. Reason : /]
9/18/2008 5:11:29 PM
so does that mean mccain is going to fire his economic adviser who pushed for the deregulation that set us on this course? or maybe fire the 83 wall street lobbyists who work for his campaign?
9/18/2008 7:23:02 PM
want to get rid of lobbyists?^then stop buying products from the companies that pay for them.or just buy more from the companies that support the lobbyist you like bestin the end you'll get more done in your life by following that, than any vote you'll ever make.
9/18/2008 7:24:55 PM
this is just a stunt to make him look like he's ON TOP OF IT.Give me a break, next.
9/18/2008 7:28:55 PM
let me guess Kainen...if Obama had called for it, it wouldn't be a stunt, it would be geniune, amirite?
9/18/2008 7:33:08 PM
No, he simply wouldnt' call for it in the first place jackass, because he's not going to score ridiculous political points to make a headline, over dumbing down a fucked up situation like the economy to blame one man and somehow display 'leadership' even if it has nothing to do with fixing the problem (a la gas tax holiday, etc)
9/18/2008 7:35:11 PM
9/18/2008 7:36:56 PM
That man happens to be responsible at the executive position of 8 years of declining prestige, economy, and global position of America. He's one of the worst presidents in the history of the United States dude....if you can't context your presidential run as a direct contrast and how you plan on changing the direction of all the bullshit that has happened over this near decade what the hell are you running for?
9/18/2008 7:49:04 PM
i'm just pointing out that Obama WOULD and DOES "dumb down a fucked up situation by blaming one man"...he's not some superman who is above that shitand i would try to convince you of the fact that only time will tell how GWB fares as a president (just like it takes time to fully assess every president), but i wont waste my time]
9/18/2008 7:53:19 PM
9/18/2008 7:55:56 PM
i think he does what pretty much every other presidential candidate (or politician in general) does which is say whatever he/she thinks will help him...he's not above anything, nobody this far along in a presidential race is

Bush's #1 weakness is being a horrible manager. (horrible is probably being too nice)He waits until public outcry is at a crisis level to replace anyone. It is pathetic.
9/18/2008 8:14:28 PM
meh...its not a popularity contest...i think he did what he thought was best at the time

9/19/2008 8:47:29 AM
ummm, ok. lol. umm socks, i fail to see what you are wetting your pants about. What CANT you find wrong with the past 8 years?
9/19/2008 9:19:27 AM
^ I can find lot's of things wrong. But I am also not silly enough to believe that the economic philosophies of one person are what caused the current mess.
9/19/2008 9:24:06 AM
One administration.
9/19/2008 9:26:09 AM
^ not even one administration. When you hear Paul Krugman saying Phil Gramm helped cause this mess (I guess trying to score political points against John McCain), he's referring to legislation passed back in *1999*! As if Gramm was the only person in the Senate and Bill Clinton (who I love) was not in the White House. The fact is that this is the end result of errors going back for decades. There is plenty of blame to go around, so much so I really don't think anyone can or should be held responsible. The economy is a complex system governed by a handful of people with limited information (and limited understanding) of the facts involved. It is simply re-fucking-diculous to try and blame this on Bush, or McCain, or the SEC chairman. And you should feel stupid for buying into any story of the sort.[Edited on September 19, 2008 at 9:41 AM. Reason : ``]
9/19/2008 9:40:50 AM
You know who McCain just blamed this whole mess on in his big economic speech this morning? Obama. And you thought his campaign couldn't get any more ridiculous. [Edited on September 19, 2008 at 9:48 AM. Reason : :]
9/19/2008 9:48:17 AM
Well, if I were you, I would feel stupid for continuing to support the GOP after they threw fiscal conservatives under the bus for the past eight years.
9/19/2008 11:37:04 AM
Too bad John McCain wouldn't have the authority to fire the SEC Chairman if he were President
9/19/2008 11:41:27 AM
Stimwalt, What do you mean continuing to support the GOP? I don't support the GOP (and never have). I support John McCain over Barack Obama for President. Thx.
9/19/2008 12:04:32 PM
Why? He's clueless.
9/19/2008 1:27:44 PM
I like how McCain is out marching a plan about how to save the economy.Obama can't yet b/c he has to consult with his "braintrust", AKA AXLEROD HASN'T WRITTEN HIS SPEECH ON IT YET.lolAnd we all thought he had a plan. laff
9/19/2008 1:32:23 PM
Why would you support the Republican or Democratic party? Both are equally rotten.
