9/14/2008 1:44:12 PM
Well, chicken tenders are usually priced a bit higher than breasts because they've done the trimming for you. How much does the pack weigh?
9/14/2008 1:44:37 PM
How about you go buy a bag of frozen chicken breasts and quit your bitching. Buy one, get one free FTW

does Teeter still have rotisserie chicken on sale on Sundays??
10/19/2014 12:57:30 PM
^ yes, and most locations around here have $1.99/lb chicken breast from that butcher section in the back
10/19/2014 2:09:02 PM
10/19/2014 2:17:22 PM
they sell fresh chicken breasts at the deli for $1.99/lb all the time.
10/19/2014 2:54:16 PM
fresh-ish
10/19/2014 8:18:24 PM
No, they slaughter the chickens while you wait.
10/19/2014 8:22:14 PM
^^^ They're thawed out bulk frozen breasts. Not that it really matters.
10/19/2014 8:25:10 PM
Good nuff for me
10/19/2014 9:27:10 PM
yeah, thawed out is a better description for them.
10/19/2014 10:08:39 PM
Food Lion FTW
10/20/2014 12:21:30 AM
I prefer chicken tenders to chicken breasts...I guess I'm burning money on them, but I don't care...only the finest Kroger brand chicken tenders for me. I'm rich, biatch
10/20/2014 12:49:39 AM
I'm not sure how long ago (definitely over a year) the meat counter set the chicken breast price at $1.99/lb but I love it and don't understand why anyone would buy a prepackaged 3 pack from the shelves for double the price. These days I buy a bunch of those and grill them all one night, then have grilled chicken to last almost a week for a variety of meals...love it

i feel like food lion has stepped their game up for what it's worth. there are still the sketchy ones, but the one near my place in cary is pretty good. I have to go to teeter for some of the more exotic ingredients but most of the time food lion has what I need. Basic produce like carrots and onions and the like are always on par with what teeter has.I get my eggplant at teeter though. food lion eggplant is scary

This just in...New grocery stores are nice.Grocery stores in nice neighborhoods are nice. There are exceptions to the rules. Carry on.
10/20/2014 7:08:17 PM
i don't care how nice they make Food Lion, I'm not shopping there until they decide that you should have more than 1 register open
10/20/2014 7:46:12 PM
you gotta be fucking poor as shit to shop at shitty kitty, and you gotta be fucking ghetto as shit to actually enjoy it
10/20/2014 8:06:40 PM
you keep falling for all that organic sticker shit
10/20/2014 8:47:45 PM
just because I prefer not to buy my groceries out of a glorified dumpster doesn't mean I waste money on a green label. it's not like I'm advocating shopping at Earth Fare
10/20/2014 8:50:02 PM
the food lion near me currently has better selection than the harris teeter near me.
10/20/2014 9:07:31 PM
food lions are hit or missnot universally bad for sure
10/20/2014 9:08:53 PM
i can't wait to go to Publix when they open. they have the BEST frozen chicken breasts
10/20/2014 9:16:51 PM
I haven't generally had issues with Food Lion. What's the issue y'all have....quality of food, I guess?
10/20/2014 9:17:03 PM
I have a problem with claymation
10/20/2014 9:20:25 PM
^^ Produce quality is kinda shitty...some ok but lots gross. Salad dressing/condiment selection is boring.Deli/prepared food sucks a big one.Seafood selection blows unless you want some old light pink farmed salmon or frozen shrimp. Pork's good to go though.Fresh baked bread is lame.Steaks aren't that great. Wondering if it's mostly select and not choice. All that said, I still shop there for staples.]

what kind of things do you pick up from the deli and what do you make with them? I don't eat a lot of "sandwiches" so i always tend to pass by the deli and cheeses.
10/21/2014 8:40:45 AM
some delis will make stuff like chicken salad, pimento cheese and stuff like that. but if you don't eat sandwiches i guess that doesn't appeal to you.
10/21/2014 9:13:46 AM
i get the jalapeno pimiento cheese from HT from time to time. It's delicious on crackers or baked on top of sliced baguette.
10/21/2014 9:40:51 AM
the prepared foods, such as rotisserie chicken, and maybe the "chicken from the back", is usually just food that is very near/at/past it's "sell by" date; so grocery stores will do something to repackage, rebrand, and sell it off instead of taking a 100% loss. 'Tis the reason why a rotisserie chicken is cheaper than a raw chicken.
10/21/2014 9:44:50 AM
^^ does HT make that though, or do they cut open bags of it?
10/21/2014 9:46:01 AM
I always assumed it was made fresh, but I'm not positive. Either way though, it tastes much better and fresher than the other shelf packaged brands like Ruth's.
