I have an '04 600rr and I just noticed that the left side 02 sensor is unplugged and I cant for the life of me find where to plug it into.I've looked at the schematics and dont see a wire to plug this thing into AT ALL.Ideas? A case of beer to someone if they come over and find it for me, haha.

Dude, it wouldnt be worth it.The harness is intertwined between the engine and frame and I dont see any empty connectors that it could plug into!

Hmm... Do you think you have a later model header and since they didn't want to have an open hole in the side of it they just left the O2 sensor in there?
9/9/2008 10:31:58 PM
nah, i'm looking at a manual for my '04 and it clearly shows that there's supposed to be an 02 sensor on each side...and to beat it all, I just noticed that the OTHER 02 sensor isnt hooked up either.I just took off all the fairings and even took the gas tank off and dont see a single damn empty connector on the harness anywhere for either of the 02 sensors to plug in to

is your CEL or equivalent on?
9/9/2008 11:26:00 PM
I don't believe there is a CEL for the computer to illuminate. The absolute worst thing I can imagine happening is that his bike would run lean as a result of getting bad info from the O2 sensors, but I imagine it's running rich. Btw, the 2004 600RR's don't have a cat do they?[Edited on September 10, 2008 at 12:24 AM. Reason : ]

Nope, no CEL, no cat.It runs really good actually, but i'm betting it'll run even better when I get these 02 sensors hooked up, lol.I still havent found where they connect to the main harness.I have 2 02 sensors that are completely unconnected at the moment (and I've been driving it like this with no real problems )

honestly i wouldnt worry about it.throw on an after market exhaust and get a power commander and be done with it

I just broke my bank buying this damn bike, haha.I'd MUCH rather just plug these bad boys in and call it a day. Dont NEED an aftermarket exhaust or Power Commander just yet.I'm thinking about just finding the wires straight from the computer and running a hardwire to the 02 sensors, haha

That's what I was going to say. First you should probably find out where the wires go into the computer. Then you can start the task of following them until you get to the end. Hopefully you'll find a connector there, rather than find out that the wires for one O2 sensor have been spliced to the corresponding wires for the other O2 sensor, resulting in a short circuit that leaves the computer from the "O2 sensor 1" connection and returns to the "O2 sensor 2" connection or some crazy ass shit, haha. Yeah, I thought about that however you know how wiring harnesses are...those wires will be bundled and bound by electrical tape, and god knows where they will actually go.I'm not untaping my entire wiring harness for these pieces of crap. I'll assess the situation today when I get home.I want to ride

this thread makes me lol
9/10/2008 9:58:42 AM
Makes me LOL too. I've taken this whole damn bike apart basically and dont see the 02 connectors anywhere.I'm willing to bet that the previous owner freakin cut off the connectors for both 02 sensors. With the state that this bike was in when I picked it up, it wouldnt surprise me at all.
9/10/2008 10:13:09 AM
well have you found any bare wires yet?
9/10/2008 12:16:47 PM
f00k no.I'm still at work (been at work since 7am this morning) and havent had a chance to look at it anymore.I texted the guy I bought it from and he said "I took it to two Honda Dealerships to make sure that was not an issue. They said that if the mixture was wrong the f1 light would be on."idiot.

Well, it looks like I'm probably getting the RR barring any unusual circumstances. I probably wont have it until next week, but if you haven't figured it out by then we can compare them and try to figure out what the hell is up with your O2 sensor wiring.[Edited on September 11, 2008 at 11:05 PM.
