I remember when we last played Guelph at the RBC Center. Their bench kept on going with this annoying chant.

81-60. us. finalcostner 30pts[Edited on August 30, 2008 at 9:07 PM. Reason : a]
8/30/2008 9:06:52 PM
mediocre
8/30/2008 9:40:41 PM
^not really, 81 pts is more than we saw last year...
8/30/2008 9:50:43 PM
against a team they should be able to get 90+ on easy
8/30/2008 9:51:58 PM
didnt happen last year, its freakin august, scores to these games dont matter, Costner had 30... tahts a great sign, and Ben didnt even make the trip
8/30/2008 9:53:00 PM
maybe we can join their conference
8/30/2008 9:53:28 PM
so do scores not matter or is it a good thing because we didnt score 81 last year? which is it?
8/30/2008 9:53:54 PM
Have we ever had an exhibition game this early?
8/30/2008 9:54:37 PM
margins dont matter, thats what i meant... the face we scored points is good obviously^ i know herb didnt do any of these trips[Edited on August 30, 2008 at 9:57 PM. Reason : by the way again, Costner had 30.... GREAT Start]
8/30/2008 9:55:46 PM
I'm certainly glad to hear that Costner MAY have gotten his game back, but obviously a 20 point win over a Canadian university is not at all impressive, although I don't think Degand is playing
8/30/2008 10:00:44 PM
So, neither Ben nor Degand played? We didn't even have a center? Still, not a very promising score really.
8/30/2008 10:59:03 PM
no center, no real decent starting pg and we still score more than last year.not bad, not great, but not bad.costner with 30 sounds promising tho

8/30/2008 11:49:52 PM
^^ to be fair, costner took 24 shots.

8/31/2008 2:12:09 AM
I am not going to read one way or another into this, a game that doesn't matter in August. I am just going to assume we are bad until I see otherwise in a few months.

8/31/2008 4:30:04 PM
I remember when horner used to come in at least make 1 or 2 clutch shots.
8/31/2008 9:11:41 PM
http://www.athletics.uoguelph.ca/Varsity_Sport/_Teams/Basketball_-_Men/Events/2030we won tonight 87-47Costner with 18Horner with 22Julius Mays with 10
8/31/2008 10:20:18 PM
Horner made up for last night. 9-11 and 3-4 from 3 pt. range. What does a 40 point win in Canada translate to against UNC at home?
8/31/2008 11:03:39 PM
mays had 5 assists and 1 turnover
8/31/2008 11:04:37 PM
How do pronounce Guelph?I hope it's like goo-lef, so when you play home games, you can say, "Welcome to the Goo!"
8/31/2008 11:47:10 PM
its like two syllable Gulflike Ge-Elf
8/31/2008 11:51:36 PM
gwelf
8/31/2008 11:59:38 PM
If I remember correctly, we played an exhibition against Guelph a few years ago and struggled to beat them. I can't remember if it was Herb's last year or Sid's first, but it was embarassing. They hit every 3 they took for 30 minutes and finally wore down. Bunch of tiny white dudes. Good to hear we beat the tar out of them though. You can't take much from it, but at least we didn't struggle (which is more than we have been able to say recently)
9/1/2008 12:41:05 AM
Pretty sure it was Sid's first year, and yeah we were really struggling at the beginning of that season, against a bunch of short scrappy canucks no less. Looks like they might be shaking a few cobwebs loose, hopefully getting good game situation practice in now will pay some dividends later in the season. And I second gwelf as the pronunciation.
9/1/2008 1:33:22 AM
did they schedule these games following our 34-0 loss to South Carolina in an attempt to make us forget that thursday ever happened?the only thing i like about this is that we are getting in some good practice while other teams *cough*DUKE*cough*Coach K*cough* are focused on other things
9/1/2008 1:38:08 AM
It was sendek's last year when we last played them and almost lost.

9/1/2008 9:20:04 AM
^That says a lot about how much we suck. And 87 is not very good against guelph. There will be acc teams that drop more than that on us this year.
9/1/2008 9:40:22 AM
you people are so negative about how little we beat them (21 and 40) by or how little we scored (81 and 87). It's August. Games that actually matter don't start for two months. Sure, expectations are low this year but, Jesus Christ, lighten up a little.[Edited on September 1, 2008 at 10:02 AM. Reason : .]
9/1/2008 10:02:02 AM
to be fair, charlotte is usually right on the cusp of being a top 25 team. us, on the other hand, are expected to have a .500 or so season.
9/1/2008 10:29:20 AM
We also have 2.5 players rotating at the 4/5 spot so its a little bit tougher to go against these shitty teams when you cant just pound it inside. I'm satisfied that Costner is playing better and the freshman are playing well at the guard positions. Thats basically all I wanted out of this tournament. Mays with 5 assists and 9 points is solid. Not great, but solid.

Someone forgot to tell UVA that they are supposed to win these exhibition games in canadaExhibition: McGill shocks Virginia Cavaliers 88-83http://www.universitysport.ca/e/story_detail.cfm?id=12400
9/1/2008 1:26:11 PM
UVA should be worse than anyone else this year.... poor cavs...I like that last game... costner + horner + mays as big contributors is a nice change
9/1/2008 2:27:44 PM

looks like kansas nearly lost as well
