What a pathetic time for cars when the top-of-the-line mustang only had 145 horsepower.

yeah that's not bad for it's day in terms of power and performance--compare to Dodge Conquest/Mitsu Starion for example .

uh, try again. the corvette still stomped anything from ford and was an incredibly advanced car for the time. it was only maybe a year or two that the mustang had any chance against the f-bodies, if that. it was game over when the tpi cars came out.

im talking about cars that were in the same class. put a modded 3rd gen against any stock 2.3t or 5.0 from that day. chevy never had a fighting chance fag.

c4 were okay.

What? Even the 350TPI f-bodies were at risk in a straight line against a 5 speed 5-liter with a competent driver. Until 1993 when the LT1 came out anyway.

Kids today will never know what it's like to flip through the Carolina Bargain Trader and see a bunch of awful 70's and 80's cars as the only thing they can afford.

I mean, these kids can drop like $4k and get an LT-1 Camaro. Spoiled bastards. A V-6 Camry will run most of the Camaros and Mustangs that parked in my school's lot.

^^^everything i've ever seen whether in reading or real life shows the only decided advantage ford had was in 1982 and then again when the h.o. 5 liter came out in 1985. at that point gm was still making the crossover to tpi in the f-body. by 1986 and later once the tpi cars got going and power steadily increased the mustang had little chance. keep in mind that depending on trim level and which of the two cams got chosen, the 305 5 speed tpi's were a bit faster than the 350 auto tpi's. by the 90's they were making ~240hp and ~340lbs./ft.
