A section of the RPM gauge is unlit, as well as the velocity - 0mph to about 60mph. The rest is working fine. I hit a mosquito on the plastic shield covering the display today (not very hard, I might add), and it the lights have been out this way since then.

How can I fix this myself, or if I must take it to a mechanic, how much will it cost? Is there anyone on here that I can go to?

take the cluster out. should be few screws to take off the surrounding cover, then another 2-3 to take the cluster out.

disconnect whatever is behind the cluster and pull it completely out and try replacing the bulbs.

I was looking for the screws today, didn't see any around the edges... where else should I look? And by "cluster," what do you mean? I'm illiterate in car talk. Should I take out the entire dash?

Would I have to take out the entire thing to repair the speedometer lightbulb? Can I just replace the speedometer bulbs or do I have to take out the entire thing?

i thought 2002 cr-v's had LED's, i guess i was wrong.

you have to remove the trim panel around the gauge cluster to see the screws.

take a flat screwdriver covered with electrical tape and pry around the edges. it's held on by clips. pull evenly so you don't break anything.

the gauge cluster should come out after that. check the connections on the back, make sure the cable is on there securely (turn the lights on and see if it works). if it still doesn't work, you're going to have to remove the front half of the cluster and check the circuit board the bulbs are on.

try pushing them in and reseating them. turn the lights on again and check if they light up.

if not, replace the bulbs. you can get them at the dealer for $2-5 a piece.

be careful with the trim, some may have screws that are countersunk into the plastic.

but yeah, like ^ said with the clips. they'll seem stuck, but just ease the flat head up and down to pop the trim out

go to honda and get your oil changed. return the next day and complain that shit isnt working that was FINE before they changed the oil.

Step 2, there are three bolts recessed under the steering column to take out, the top half lifts off

After you get the cluster out, the back will look like this, turn the bulb holders 90 degrees ccw, and pull them out, I would replace all the gauge lights while its out, imo.
