Ok, so I bought a new webcam last week. It's a Logitech Quickcam Deluxe http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104068 and so far I've been happy with it. My girlfriend, the sole reason I bought the thing, has a Macbook, about 2 years old max, with the built-in isight camera.

We've been trying to chat the past few days and have run into some difficulty. She uses the iChat program & at first I was using AIM 5.9. It worked alright except the picture was small & somewhat grainy, but at least it worked. I have since upgraded to the newest version of AIM in hope of improved quality. Now, it works very intermittently, if at all. I'm not sure about her internet connection, but it's wireless that she says works well for web browsing and even loads YouTube videos rather quickly. My connection is secure & fast, only being shared between 2 people.

Basically, I was looking for better (preferably free ) software. Any suggestions? Either for software or other things we can do...all help is greatly appreciated! Thanks (sorry for the long post, I had to explain the situation)

she's going to cheat on you

Back on topic, I would highly recommend either Yahoo or MSN messenger.

Both have Mac versions and both work insanely better than AIM for video chat

skype works well.

for free, i'd suggest MSN, just b/c out of all the products i've seen so far, MSN was better supported.

i hate it otherwise.

Thanks, going to try Yahoo probably later tonight, if that doesn't work out I'll give MSN a try. Not a microsoft fan necessarily, but if it works, I'll do it. Thanks again for the suggestions
