This crashed and burned in the lounge...so I'm going to try again here.

Since I posted the last topic I've done much more research (though I'm still as confused as ever). I found a company that I think I like for the webpage, however they don't offer the domain. SO, my question is, what is the best company to get a domain from? Or, does it really matter? I just need the webaddy and a webpage.

Is there anything else I need to consider?

What do you mean you found a company you like for the webpage? You mean they are going to design the look of the webpage for you? So, now you just want a place to host it.

From your comments, it sounds like you are not very technical... so with that in mind, just use godaddy or 1and1.com. Runs about 5 bucks a month, and includes a domain normally.

robster, the company provides a template and I add text, graphics, etc. (though most I've found do offer their services to design one for you). I wanted a very highly customizable template for the webpage so it didn't look so cookie cutter.

I've run into godaddy...so I have to buy the name and then buy the forwarding service, is that correct?

what is anonymizer?

if all you are getting is a template, you still need a host. Godaddy can take care of both the domain and hosting for you. I have bought about a dozen domains through godaddy but when I did have one site hosted with them (~3 years ago) the page load times were rather slow. Right now I have a number of sites hosted through dreamhost and haven't had any problems with them. If you sign up for a years worth of hosting you get the domain for free.

http://www.1and1.com/ has the most consistently cheap domain prices, so i'd go with them

it generally doesn't matter who you register with
