djeternal's Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup

Ingredients:
1 - 2.5-3.5 lb whole chicken
3-4 cans Swanson's Chicken Broth
1- (16oz) package of mixed frozen vegetables (corn, peas, carrots, etc etc)
1- (8oz) package of large egg noodles
1/2 - large onion, sauteed (optional, but I like onions)
Paprika (optional)
Salt and Pepper to taste

Directions:

Wash whole chicken, clean out and discard innards (unless you want to keep them in for flavor). Slice the breasts a couple times, and season the chicken with salt, pepper, and paprika. (Paprika is optional, but whenever i cook any poultry i always season with Paprika). Turn your crockpot on HIGH and put the whole chicken inside. Cover and cook for 4 hours.

After 4 hours is up, remove the whole chicken and set it aside to cool enough for you to debone it. The meat should definitely be falling of the bone. While the chicken cools, add the cans of chicken broth to the crockpot and turn heat to LOW. Debone the chicken and add the chicken pieces to the broth. You can leave the pieces as big or as small as you want them, just a matter of personal preference. Also, if you are looking to reduce the fat content, now would be the time to discard the skin and any chunks of fat that remain. Add frozen vegetables, onion, and cook on LOW for 1 hour.

During that hour, cook the egg noodles per the package instructions. Add the cooked noodles to the crockpot and cook on low for an additional 1/2 hour. Salt and pepper to taste. (note: go easy on the salt because the canned chicken broth has a TON of salt in it already)

By the way, i can make this on a Sunday and have lunches for the whole week. It makes a shit load, and it's pretty cheap.

I guess I should also let you know that I have a HUGE crockpot, it's 6qts. and the above recipe pretty much fills it to the top. so if your crockpot is smaller you might need to adjust the recipe

and ^ whole meal should cost you < $15

This is another of my favorites:

Zippy Beef Tips

Ingredients:

2 lbs stewing meat, cubed
2 8oz jars of sliced mushrooms, drained (can substitute with 2 cups of fresh, sliced mushrooms, but I recommend using the jars)
1 10 3/4-oz can of cream of mushroom soup
1 envelope dry onion soup mix
1 cup of 7-Up or other lemon lime carbonated drink
Garlic powder, salt, pepper to taste

Directions

Season beef with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Place beef and mushrooms in crockpot.

Combine cream of mushroom soup, dry onion soup mix, and soda in a bowl. Mix well and pour over top of beef.

Cover crockpot and cook on LOW for 8 hours. Feel free to give it a stir every now and then.

Serve over rice.

MY VARIATION:

When there is about a half hour left to cook, I add 8oz. of cream cheese and stir it up really well. Then I serve it over egg noodles instead of rice. Makes it kind of like a beef stroganoff. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

depending on the size of your crockpot

put a boston butt in there, with a little bit of cider vinegar and dried red pepper flakes

cook all day on low

take it out, pull it

add more cider and red pepper flakes to your liking...

voila, Eastern Style BBQ

Tex-Mex Meatloaf (this always reminds me of eating a taco without the shell, but it is SOOOOO good)

Ingredients:

2.5 pounds ground beef
half of an 8-oz jar salsa (you decide how hot you want it)
1 pkg. dry taco seasoning, divided
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 cup bread crumbs (if you wanna go low carb, use 2 cups crushed pork rinds)
1 12-oz package shredded Mexican-mix cheese
2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper

Directions:

Combine all ingredients, except for half of the taco seasoning, in a large bowl. Mix well. Shape into a loaf (if you have a loaf pan, USE IT) and place in slow cooker. Sprinkle remaining taco seasoning on top.

Cover and cook on LOW 8-10 hours.

Profit.

I love my crock pot.

The last thing I made came out pretty good.

A fatty piece of chuck roast, tons of carrots, celery, potatos and onions. Garlic. Some oregano, garlic salt, pepper, maybe tyme and paprika. about a cup of sake or gin. Some water, and maybe a little bit of italian dressing.

Make sure everything is covered in liquid, if there isnt enough, add more water. cook all day on low. delicious.

if I am going to serve pulled pork sandwiches I like to smoke a bunch of butts ahead of time
you don't have to finish them - a good 4 hours of smoking is fine

then I wrap them and freeze them

I can pull one and put it in the crock pot and have really good sandwiches on the spot

Tacos

6 chicken breasts
2 cans of corn
2 cans of black beans
4 cups of salsa
salt/pepper, taco seasoning

put in:
chicken
2 cups of salsa
corn
black beans
2 cups of salsa
season every layer

leave on low for 8-10 hours or high for 5-6

when it's close to being done use a fork to shred the meat....throw on a taco shell with some cheese, lettuce, guac, and/or sour cream and you have a damn good taco

^^ No. They're almost opposites. Crockpots cook over several hours. Pressure cookers cook very fast.

I make vegetarian chili by tossing 3ish cans of different kinds of beans (drained unless using chili beans), a can of corn, some tomato sauce, a big can of tomatoes and some chili seasoning. And if I'm willing to get a pan dirty, some sauteed onions and peppers. Make it meat chili by cooking beef with the onions.

I really need to use my crockpot more.

I am making my chili tomorrow. I won't divulge the recipe here, but this is a good base to start with.

http://southernfood.about.com/od/crockpotchili/r/bl76c4.htm

use that recipe and tweak it make it to your own. i recommend adding a diced onion, diced green pepper, diced jalapeno pepper, and using Rotel diced tomatoes with green chilis in place of the diced tomatoes they recommend. I also prefer kidney beans to pinto beans, but that is just a personal preference.

I tried making some stirfry once, and TOTALLY fucked it up. I made it so spicy my bf wouldn't eat it, and he will eat goddamn near ANYTHING. It was inedible, due to spice.

So I threw it in a crockpot, added a bunch of beans and some canned chili, some ground turkey, and corn, and broth and water, and we ate well for a while.
