i liked that band. whatever happened to them
8/11/2008 3:50:55 PM

8/11/2008 3:55:52 PM
I've heard a lot about this game.I want to play it, but my xbox isn't connected to the internet
8/11/2008 3:56:26 PM
^^^Just broke up after people started leaving etc. Ironically enough, Frame and Canvas (the album art I linked) was after a few of them had left and its probably my favorite album of theirs even though I like the stuff before it too. However after they broke up, most of them reformed with a new sound under the band name "Hey Mercedes" which you should definitely check out if you enjoy Braid, even though its different. Im a big fan of both.edit: sorry for hijacking the thread. I just absolutely adore that whole genre of music. such nostalgic there for me [Edited on August 11, 2008 at 4:01 PM. Reason : ]

If paying $15 for one of the most interesting games in recent memory chaps your ass that badly, go to Target right now, buy a 1600 MS Points card on sale for $14.99, and go home and buy Braid for the equivalent price of $11.25.I want value for my hard earned dollar bucks as much as the next gamer--maybe even more, since I have so little time to game these days--but some people act like a 4 hour game just CAN'T be worth $15 no matter how good it is. I think a lot of these same people spend $15 on a pair of movie tickets on a regular basis. If you're into game dev/design at all, check out this cool article on the history of Braid's art direction http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/3753/the_art_of_braid_creating_a_.php]

I just played the trial today and it was absolutely amazing. Gameplay is very fun and intuitive as well. This is one of those titles that absolutely supports the game-as-art argument.

This game has some of the best puzzles I've ever seen on a console.Anyone that was willing to pay for Portal should buy this game.Well worth $15.
8/11/2008 10:12:11 PM
Remember folks, Target has 1600 point cards for $15 this week so the game is about $10 now. Well worth it.

8/12/2008 2:20:31 AM
just finished World 5 and now on to 6.World 5 is by far the most fun
8/12/2008 10:41:07 AM
Yeah, world 5 is definitely the most fun. World 6 is such a letdown after you play through 5. And then world 1 is just...eh.
8/12/2008 3:58:24 PM
I totally thought this thread was about Bob Nanna too.Someone make a thread.
8/12/2008 6:07:36 PM
enough about the band, this thread isn't about the bandI posted a giant pic of the game intro so that people wouldn't be confused
8/13/2008 5:36:39 PM
I'm on world 4. So far, so good.
8/15/2008 9:43:28 PM
isnt braid a band?
8/15/2008 10:41:10 PM
Braid is on par with Portal for 'shit your pants' moments and awesome puzzles. It compares well to Portal in price and length as well.Anyone have any clue what the ending is all about?
8/15/2008 11:26:46 PM
I just read that part about "He didn't understand all of it, but the parts he did were amazing" (completely paraphrasing that) and I took that to be a metaphor for the experience you were supposed to take away from the game.Or something.
8/15/2008 11:35:12 PM
I was just asking about this the other day. Still don't know what it is about.
8/15/2008 11:55:53 PM

I've gotten all of the puzzle pieces except for one (the last on in level 5's Crossing the Gap). It's driving me fucking crazy.
8/19/2008 2:34:00 PM
Let it drive you crazy. One of the puzzles took me over an hour to figure out (focusing on that one puzzle) but solving it myself felt like the greatest achievement ever.Don't ruin the experience with a walkthrough.
8/19/2008 3:07:25 PM
I cheated on about 4 A few times I just checked to be sure what I was attempting was the right way to go about it.
8/19/2008 3:29:03 PM
lol
8/19/2008 4:03:31 PM
Got through it, finished the game, FUCKING LOVED IT. One of the best last levels / game endings ever.
8/19/2008 4:14:20 PM
if anyone is having trouble, the official walkthrough is really great http://braid-game.com/walkthrough/walkthrough2.html
8/19/2008 6:15:31 PM
Just finished it tonight. Out-fucking-standing!I was so tempted to lookup how to finish 3 last puzzle pieces but taking a night off and coming back to it gave me a fresh approach and it just clicked. It does feel great to figure out a challenging puzzle.I really love the story telling. As said above, the ending level was really creative. So well done how things are intertwined and all mixed up at the same time.Definitely worth the $10 I paid for it.
8/20/2008 1:15:51 AM
how'd you get for 10?
8/22/2008 3:20:29 PM
ugh, i am so tempted to use a walkthrough right nowonly piece i've had trouble with so far in world 5 (with the "shadow"), stage 4 or 5...which ever is "jumping the gap" or "minding the gap" or whatever it's calledi've tried to get that one piece above the door for at least an hour, and nothing at all is working
8/25/2008 5:32:22 PM
Yeah, that one was tough. It was also one that felt good to solve.
8/25/2008 7:07:01 PM
Just finished it. Surprised it didn't take me longer though from everyone's review. The puzzle I mentioned above was the toughest for me to figure out, and a definite "doh" moment when it clicked. Now I gotta go read some interpretations of what the heck was going on with the story, loloh, and I agree, do NOT use a walkthrough, you actually feel like you accomplished something when you solve all of them on your own.Now I'm also working on the speed runs
8/25/2008 9:38:15 PM
Drovkin, that was the same puzzle that I had the most trouble with (last one I completed).. made me want to throw the controller across the room. The game definitely forces you to thin outside the box. World 5 was the most challenging by far.
8/26/2008 12:54:42 AM
We were doing "crossing the gap" and had three people sitting there playing/watching and trading off controllers just like in the old days. It must have taken hours. But the instant each one of us saw what we had to do (on accident), it was a collective "OOOOOOH". This a fucking multiplayer game I swear.
8/26/2008 8:01:25 AM
^ hahaha, yeah, that's the one I was talking about.Basically I had tried the same thing for the 100th time, and then thought, "wait...I wonder..."and then dinglolI did have a quick question on that spoiler ending that was posted above***spoiler*****at the end of his statement, he said
