Premiere: September 28, 2008

The best show on tv is almost back! Can't wait

To start off the discussion, here's the latest from wiki:
Quote :
"Jimmy Smits has signed on to the season 3 cast. He will play Miguel Prado, an assistant district attorney who will work with Dexter to pursue a murderer who has affected both of their lives. Dexter befriends Miguel Prado which changes his way of life afterwards. It was also rumored that in the third season, Dexter kills someone innocent and that causes "an avalanche". Another main plot will be Debra's new love - "a healthy loving relationship" - but it wasn't announced with whom."

i still like the show, but the second season was kind of bad. the love story between Debra and the FBI guy was just terrible. hopefully they return to form this year

S1 was golden. S2 was good, but a lot of logical inconsistencies, especially surrounding Doakes and his trip to Haiti then his imprisonment in dexter's cabin.

^^^It certainly wasn't up to the super high standard set by the first season but compared to the rest of television it was still pretty fucking good.

I stumbled across this show because it was recommended to me by Netflix. I thought it sounded interesting and figured I'd give it a shot. Not only was I impressed but I was blown away by the acting, the character development and of course the story! I watched both seasons in about a weeks time and can't wait for this season! Oh yeah, I even picked up Showtime because of this show (and also a little for boxing).

I'm debating whether to watch it or wait till tv. If I watch it now I'll have to wait longer for that second episode. Decisions, Decisions.

Showtime usually has their DVD screeners floating around. 3x01 is the only one that has leaked thus far to my knowledge.

^^^^ The second book is pretty good. The show didn't follow it so if you want another Dexter story then pick it up. I avoided the third one because I heard it took a supernatural approach and skewed pretty far from the other books and show.

i love getting people into this show

first my friend got me into it then i got my step dad into it and now he tells everyone he knows about it

then i got the bf into it and we're dying for season 3 to start!

this is pretty much the only "new" show i actually watch -- i dont have time to keep up with other shows but this one is totally worth it

i plan on reading the second book in the series and depending on how it goes i might read the third. i'd be interested to see how the plot continues since the first book ended dramatically different from the show

what did everyone think?

also did anyone else hear the reports ab a stuntman getting accidently stabbed on set??

one of the actors picked up the real knife instead of the fake (wtf why is the real one right next to it) and stabbed him. it wasnt fatal

I wonder if they are going to go with the books and have dexter start training cody and astor in the code of harry, kinda got the vibe from this ep when he referred to them as "his" kids

But harry knew that dex had the brain of a serial killer, cody and astor aren't his biological kids so they more than likely don't have the same brain makeup as he does i.e. serial killer tendencies.

^ in the books they do, from seeing their dad beat and rape their mother. cody kills a neighbors dog, etc.

Did he not kill a dog in the first season? Or something happened with the neighbor's dog, and I thought it was Cody that did it... I thought the last episode was pretty good, or better than any this season so far.

the thing that happened with the neighbors dog was that it was crying and barking outside and the owner didnt give a shit

so rita stole the dog and gave it to a friend of hers from work bc she had 2 nieces or something who'd give the dog the love and attention it needed

cody hasn't been known to harm any animals in the show, the book could be another story

it is my understanding that only the first season was even remotely similar to the first book, and from there on it's all original material...I haven't read the books, granted but people I've talked to who have read them have confirmed this

im enjoying this season more than i enjoyed season 2, it feels more cohesive

however, i do agree that they are overdoing the jimmy smits scenes, i like them but i feel like they are too frequent
