I'm amused TWC hasn't offered any deals really, this year, besides that "great" 2 year contract deal. You might be SOL. I'll google and see if I can find that site that lists all the TWC promos...http://snl.jt.org/timewarnercable/north-carolina-road-runner-internet.htmlThere's one that's sketchy, but lists the offers.Shows only the 5mb downstream (which is now the 8mb downstream internet, I think) as $30/month. Doesn't show any higher "special" rate for the 10mb service.

anything for cable etc?

It showed $40/mo for digital cable with HD service for 6 months (I think) and for $7/mo (free for 3 months) you could add on the TWC HD tier (which adds a few HD channels I think and an HD DVR or something). It's not the usual 12 month stuff I've seen on there.

anyone ever been able to get a great deal by threatening to cancel? ]

the 2 year deal sucks, especially if you're only renting...we just got roadrunner standard (not lite or the extra turbo) + digital cable with hd dvr for $90/month after taxes

TWC doesn't have to offer deals, they don't really need your business.

Anyone know anything about Windstream? They claim to offer 12mbps down for $19.95 a month for 12 months after a $50 set-up fee. http://www.windstream.com/residential/broadband.aspx

Is there a noticeable difference between 7Mbps and 10Mbps to justify the $10.00 a month price difference? The internet users would be just me and my girlfriend. We don't really download anything. I just stream online music and play WoW.

Yeah, I am concerned about the *for 12 months catch myself. I wonder what it will bounce up to once the year is up or if I am even eligible since I am not a new customer.

Yeah. My bill is $88.xx.wahoowa, is that your "permanent" rate or a special (concession?) If that's your permanent rate, I'm gonna raise hell about it after the special ends. I dealt with TWC for 2 years. What I learned was that you are allowed 2 concessions per time with them. I used both of them after my special ended. Then I moved out to a place that had cable, so I dropped my account. I moved out to a place that didn't have cable, and called TWC saying I wanted to switch back. I got the "special" for signing up with them (although I guess I'm not totally "new") and I have 2 concessions as well now (not including this special).I hate TWC, but I'm enjoying Road Runner for the first time.[Edited on July 28, 2008 at 6:54 PM. if any of you are getting a great deal on your cable (cable/DVR/internet/premiums etc for <=$100/month let us know how exactly you obtained that good pricing...who you called what you said etc...

Anyone else's roadrunner acting like complete shit right now? I've got turbo but the most I'm getting is something like .8mbit from several different speed testing sites. Hulu and netflix are basically unuseable. It's been going on all day and when I call TWC I get a rapid busy signal.EDIT: So apparently every location in central NC is "red" on their network status page. The explanation? "Sorry but we're having problems with our cable network." Of course since it's time warner you will not have your bill pro-rated to reflect lost service, nor will you have an ETA for it getting back up. Annoyingly enough, the only way to find out it's not just YOUR connection that's fucked up is to check their network status page on their website. You COULD try calling them, since obviously info on their website is useless when your internet doesn't work. The problem there is that their phone lines are almost always overwhelemed, espescially with widespread outages. Yay TWC![Edited on July 30, 2008 at 6:43 PM. Reason : oh I see]
