I wish my lab group had a sysadmin. Our lab servers have been fucked all week. The computer support at NCSU is nonexistent.

it's summer... what do you expect? They are all probably busy upgrading current infrastructure before the onslaught of new students for Fall semester. Plus, aren't they redoing the whole blackboard website thingy or web vista?

they had quality help like me and nintool but then they decided $14/hr and a C parking pass were just too much compensation. since I've been off the payroll (2 years) I've yet to see anyone approve a WSUS update and I know this because I still have domain admin access... In fact, I think my name is still reflected on comtech's website as a contact.

yeah, i used to work for ISD (which is now OIT or some bullshit like that)$8/hour for work i was getting paid $30-40/hour for as a consultant (this included Crestron programming... which is a skill that's pretty hard to find... they screwed themselves out of the cheapest Crestron programmer they were ever going to find).the vast majority of the management sucks majorly. there are some of them that i like a lot, however. i think they know who they are.i won't go on for fear of charges of libel (yes, they'd probably do that)but, to sum it up: don't work for them. it's a ripoff. the smart people realize that. i've now got a much better job that pays quite a bit more, and... get this... i actually have responsibilities! they trust me here!trusting your employees and giving them the proper tools to do their job - what a novel concept!]
