I'm looking to put a new CD player in my car, in place of the crappy factory radio, and want one that plays from my ipod. Does anyone know if I can play videos on the ipod's screen and get the video's audio through the car's speakers via the CD player's ipod adapter?

I can't give a you a definite answer, but I would assume since the audio is still being transmitted in the same manner, it wouldn't make any difference that it's coming from a video.

However if for some reason it didn't work, you could always use AoA audio extractor to rip the audio from the video files on your computer and just make mp3's.

i do this with my ipod video and my car's ipod adaptor. It's a kenwood unit and the adaptor does just fine keeping the ipod charged, playing the audio in the car and video on the ipod.

can make a good asset during long trips if your passenger wants to watch family guy while you listen in

the ipod adapter in my car, factory installed, plugs into the dock port thing. when you plug anything in that port, from my experience, the wheel is no longer active (so you can't manually pick songs this way). mine is controlled through the car's steering wheel and [factory] head unit buttons.

i would assume that anything else that plugs into the ipod dock port would do the same (disable the wheel & screen).

anything you plug into the headphone jack allows you to still use the wheel and screen to select and play music. my car also has an aux in headphone jack. if you use this set up the audio plays through the car speakers and the video shows on the screen.

I just ordered a Sony CD player that has both an ipod jack and a 3.5mm audio input jack, so if for some reason the video's audio doesn't play through the ipod jack, I can run it through the audio input jack.
