Got bored a while back and put this together. Figured some people here might find it useful: http://tinyurl.com/669lp7I probably could have made it a little fancier but that was the first time I really played around on Google Maps.

Here is a site one of my friends made. Very similar to what you have done but has small descriptions of the establishment, with their web page, address and phone numbers. You can also sort for bars with specific criterion of what you are looking for.http://raleigh.barsforus.com/[Edited on July 23, 2008 at 2:24 PM. Reason : .]

It's funny, because I literally made that Google map the Friday of the RTP startup weekend thing, then on Sunday I saw they had done that. It's a really cool idea, and it looks like they have many more bars added than when I last looked. Once they get them all my Google map will be obsolete, which is fine with me, because their site is a great idea.

awesome idea Awhile ago I tried doing something like this for businesses on Hillsborough Street, I'd like to see something like that done again. ]

Now that is excellent. I see good things coming from this thread.EDIT: ^Boylan Bridge Brewpub (formerly Sidetrack Brewpub before being sued by a place in Chicago) is set to open August 25th. It's been in the works for a couple of years and is finally a reality. http://www.boylanbridge.com/ This will be the return of a brewery to the downtown area in Raleigh. I'm really excited about it because there is a LOT of thought that has gone into it. I just hope it succeeds.[Edited on July 23, 2008 at 2:39 PM. Reason : .]

^^^^^ That is a good one too, another great idea^^^ That looks to be like a sweet place, yeah hopefully it does well...Yeah these web pages are great ideas, really good for people new to an area... My friend that is a part of barsforus, also has a webpage dedicated to the growth of downtown Raleigh and a lot of other good stuff about downtown as well. Good reads if you're interested in stuff going on around downtown.http://dtraleigh.com/[Edited on July 23, 2008 at 2:47 PM. Reason : ^][Edited on July 23, 2008 at 2:48 PM. Reason : .]

Nice, I read that blog daily, as well as http://www.newraleigh.com/ and http://raleighphilosociety.blogspot.com/ . I think this is also good for people who have lived in Raleigh for a while but just don't realize what's been happening in downtown lately. It's been growing at a very fast rate over the last couple of years.

no jackpotboono borough on barsforusdouble boo
7/23/2008 3:20:31 PM
Hadn't put the Jackpot on there because it isn't really "downtown". The next thing I was going to do was Hillsborough Street through the NC State area, but I haven't yet, as my free time has been completely consumed by moving.Moving two blocks down from said Jackpot, as it were.

They are missing several on raleigh.barsforus.com.Didn't see Brooklyn Heights or Landmark, both of which are fairly new. Damn it I'm ready to move downtown.
