haha, you know my answer, or should...[Edited on July 23, 2008 at 1:45 PM. Reason : ls2 gto FTW]
7/23/2008 1:45:00 PM
umm.. duh??oh hwy gasmileage shouldn't be toooo terrible in the v8 but the fun factor with be 10 fold
7/23/2008 1:45:08 PM
2.0L/260-hp*/260-lb-ft turbocharged DOHC 16-valve I-4 not bad for the cobalt, it will be hella fun to drive and 22/30 est. mpg so depends if you have the money to buy the gas or not.

Can someone please explain this to me?Cobalt SS performance specs:Price As Tested $23,490 MPG 22 city/30 highway/26.0 average 0–60 mph 5.5 sec. Slalom 72.4 mph Quarter Mile 14.0 sec. @ 101.8 mph Skidpad 0.92g 60–0-mph Braking 117 ft. Solstice GXP performance specs:Price As Tested $30,299 MPG 19 city/28 highway/23.5 average 0–60 mph 5.5 sec. Slalom 67.0 mph Quarter Mile 14.0 sec. @ 99.3 mph Skidpad 0.86g 60–0-mph Braking 126 ft. The Solstice is a dedicated RWD sports car, yet gets stomped performance wise by a souped up FWD econo-box coupe. (they share the same engine) What in the fuck?!
7/23/2008 5:06:01 PM
b/c the solstice is a pos?
7/23/2008 5:12:31 PM
7/23/2008 5:18:22 PM
While I don't consider it an "amazing" sports car, doesn't it use its own dedicated platform? If its a shortened and modified larger platform than yes, agreed.
7/23/2008 5:37:10 PM
too much magazine racing... average driver will struggle to get the cobalt off the line, no matter what traction or boost control trickery GM might have up its sleeve. the cobalt might have it from a roll due to gearing and/or weight
7/23/2008 6:07:15 PM
GTO anyday
7/23/2008 6:10:28 PM
You're talking about acceleration, which doesn't matter b/c they're the same. FYI, the SS has launch control and no lift shifting.I'm talking about handling and braking.
7/23/2008 6:10:31 PM
my bro used to have a GTO and got 22mpg in mixed city/hwy. he would always speed so it may be able to do a little better.get the GTO. FWD is for family and chick cars.[Edited on July 23, 2008 at 7:10 PM. Reason : of course the first month he only got 13mpg due to hot dogging it]
7/23/2008 7:09:44 PM
7/23/2008 7:34:33 PM
why the fuck is this even a thread?
7/23/2008 7:45:05 PM
^ was wondering that too
7/23/2008 10:04:40 PM
get an x-runner and supercharge it. its great for hauling a bike cause its low and you can plug a battery charger in the bed.
7/23/2008 11:00:42 PM
I'd get a solstice GXP, fast as hell at tight courses and autoX. Besides the chipmunk front they look great too.
7/24/2008 4:17:51 PM
Do you drive more city or highway? That should be your biggest consideration. Frequent highway, go for the GTO and just go easy on it around town to save your wallet. Nearly all city, you won't regret the Cobalt when gas hits $5/gallon.
7/24/2008 8:27:52 PM
FWD should X the cobalt from the get go
7/24/2008 8:32:02 PM
^ i would drive it. not my first choice though
7/24/2008 8:53:13 PM
didnt the cobalt ss get like one of the fastest times on top gear or fifth gear or something?i dont care for either one, just askin
7/25/2008 12:42:37 AM
unfortunately, they're both ugly SOB's
7/25/2008 4:25:06 AM
^ better than most things that are out now. And why in sam hell is everyone so hyped about the solstice. Not really that impressive to my eye, not to mention it's fugly.
7/25/2008 8:32:29 AM
Leaning towards cobolt, its new has 100k warranty and i can problaby sing one for 21k.and it gets 22/30 mpgAnyone got better suggestions
7/25/2008 4:24:11 PM
and the thing actually turned in decent lapt time at nordschleifehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordschleife_fastest_lap_times
7/25/2008 4:25:05 PM
if you're going to get a car like the cobalt ss, why not get an srt4 for like $14k or even a wrx for $10k. if you want something new, or real close, get a scion tc and put the trd supercharger on it at the dealer.
7/25/2008 4:44:57 PM
cobalt SS screams "teenager wanting to be cool"
7/25/2008 4:45:41 PM
7/25/2008 6:16:19 PM
