Its almost here people!! Place your bets, Place your bets.http://www.littleleague.org/series/2008divisions/llbb/index.htmThe Japanese being the model of efficiency have already had their qualifying tournament and will be sending a team from Edogawa Minami Little League. Most of the other international qualifying tournaments are going on right now. The US regional qualifying tournaments start the weekend of July 30. I am excited this is one of my favorite sporting events of the year and ESPN does a quality job of covering it. I just wish they would show some of the international qualifying finals. Me and my friends have even developed an ingenious way to bet on this. It is a Calcutta betting style where every team is bid on auction style one at a time. If no one wants to bid on a team, they are placed into a communal pool to be bid on together at the end of the auction. To clarify, say no one wants to bid on Canada or Saudi Arabia (very likely). Those teams can be placed in the pool. Then at the end of the auction, the pool will be auctioned off starting at the minimum bid as if it were a single team. We also did a similar style betting on the NCAA Tournament that worked out quite nicely. Also just to grease the wheels of the auction and really get the pot to something worth winning I use the data from the link I provided to compose margin of victory and runs allowed/scored stats.

I'm betting some latin country will send another kid that is 14 with a 12 year olds birth certificate.
7/23/2008 1:38:51 PM
That was actually the Bronx, NY that sent a 14 year old.

7/23/2008 5:38:36 PM
i wanna bet on some 12 year oldslike whoa
7/23/2008 5:45:54 PM
I banked a couple hundred on our NCAA calcutta this March, but it was nowhere near as gratifying as sitting in a bar screaming at a little Japanese kid to, "get your shit together before you cost me a hundo."It really is my favorite gambling even of the whole year.
7/23/2008 6:02:40 PM

8/6/2008 10:57:20 AM
I wouldn't rather watch WNBAI'd rather watch MLB and preseason NFL and NASCAR and PGA Golf
8/6/2008 10:59:12 AM
the llws is awesome... how can you not like it ?
8/6/2008 12:08:50 PM
someone call the giant that played for saudi arabia and have him kick their asses. I grew up around dixie youth baseball/softball and always gone to the district and/or state all-star games so maybe that's why I'm into it so much.
8/6/2008 12:12:51 PM
There's nothing more gratifying than the looks you get from people in the bar when you're screaming at the TV while the LLWS is on. Even the degenerates at the race book think you're low.
8/6/2008 12:18:06 PM
^^^i don't hate it or anything but i'm not gonna plan my day around it[Edited on August 6, 2008 at 12:18 PM. Reason : ^lol]

8/7/2008 11:31:47 PM
betting on LLWS? Perhaps a visit to gambling anonymous is in your future?
8/7/2008 11:35:20 PM
haha. this shit is bananas. TX up 6-5 in the bottom of the 6 with 2 outs and LA ties it with a homerun. LA pitcher walks the bases loaded and walks in a run with 2 outs. Now LA hit a leadoff homer bot. 7th to tie and if LA doesn't win it now, they can't start another inning because of a curfew. damn. bases loaded and a wild pitch brings in the winning run. LA to the LLWS[Edited on August 8, 2008 at 12:10 AM. Reason : ]

8/13/2008 12:58:39 AM
If my boys from either Florida or Oregon play like they should it'll be a Kurtis636 v. NoidRoid final.
8/13/2008 7:25:33 AM
You don't even know who your boys are, I can't believe you outbid me on WASHINGTON.
8/13/2008 7:45:02 AM
Leave me alone, I've been up for 24 hours straight.
8/13/2008 7:51:17 AM
It begins... today!
8/15/2008 12:14:16 PM
http://www.littleleague.org/series/2008divisions/llbb/series.htmMy Florida boys are off to a strong start!
8/15/2008 4:43:54 PM
i took HI
8/15/2008 7:09:52 PM
They only have 1 kid that can really hit now, the other one fractured his elbow in this gameI like their pitching and defense though
8/15/2008 10:01:24 PM
Florida is still looking good, I'm a bit pissed that the Washington team (who was the highest priced team this year as NoidRoid and I both went after them) lost to Louisiana (who looks unexpectedly awesome). Hopefully they'll get back on track and win their next two games. On the international side Japan and Venezuela have been dominant, meanwhile Mexico looks like they're in the clear, but Curacao, the other solid team in that bracket could potentially be in trouble as they'll face the winner of the Japan v. Venezuela matchup.
8/17/2008 8:57:37 PM
Fucking hell Florida.Oh yeah, Stacey Dales is no substitute for Erin Andrews.
8/17/2008 9:27:52 PM
My hometown, Hagerstown, MD. Is wooping ass. Cheer for them if you do not otherwise have a favorite.
8/19/2008 5:25:22 PM
they got whomped yesterday.
8/19/2008 5:28:34 PM
I wish I could find the tiebreakers so I'll know who I should be rooting for tonight.
8/19/2008 7:46:40 PM
8/19/2008 9:30:00 PM
So apparently even Curacao has decided it is no longer cool to like Andruw Jones. I remember a couple years ago, every single player said Andruw was their favorite player during the player intros. This year not one did. I guess its a good thing that Jair came around right after Andruw fell off.
8/19/2008 10:36:32 PM
^LOLHaha I remember not long ago Braves fans were arguing he should have been MVP over D. Lee and Pujols. FWIW I think Mexico is going to demolish everyone in this thing.
8/20/2008 12:23:02 AM
That is seriously the stupidest tie breaker system ever. Maryland would have had to give up 6 runs just to have a chance to advance. I mean it worked out for my team to get through, but that is still dumb.
