Sony SZ laptop.Traveling in Europe. I get to Venice, and my laptop refuses to boot properly. I get an error: ksecdd.sys failed to load or is corrupt. 0xc000000f. After jumping thru a few hoops, I get a vista repair cd burned from a torrent somewhere on the web. after repair attempts 1-5 or 6, vista happily informs me it cannot fix the problem with startup repair. I looked up similar problems, and attempted command prompt,C:CD bootDirBootrec /rebuildbcdat which point the rebuild says it was sucessful, but also notes it detected 0 instances of a Windows Vista OS.reboot fails again. What can I do (assuming hardware is not fucked?) is hardware fucked?

I've had this happen before but it was a hardware driver issue. Have you tried booting it up in safe mode?

did a little chkdsk /r and it froze halfway through. Waited a half hour with no progress and rebooted. Now when I try to access C: it says missing or corrupt, wonderfuckingful
