i did a dive off of there once.....and only once...probably the scariest thing ever.looking at rocks about a foot or two away from you... not knowing where you're landing.
7/22/2008 5:35:36 PM
i swear i just replied in this thread..where did it go?
7/22/2008 11:10:00 PM

7/22/2008 11:12:47 PM
Assuming the guy in the pic is at least 5 feet it looks more along the lines of 30 feet at least.

I think we did one at Falls Lake once where you had to get a running start. But I don't think that was it.
7/22/2008 11:17:21 PM
thats looks like the jump.. i actually cruised by the spot on boat 2 weekends ago. looks a lot different.i think there used to be a skull spray painted on the rocks.im tellin yah, it was like this \ you had to jump out like 5-7 feet to clear the rocks for good
7/22/2008 11:22:56 PM
nothing like walking through a cemetery to drink and jump off a rock at night.
7/22/2008 11:59:27 PM
haha yeah.we did the other walk, where you walk across that big ditch or whatever. not a single no trespassing sign. we got busted one year and pretty much walked the police officer the same way we went, and not a single sign on hand. he didnt know about the other path. so none of us got tickets.but we were all trespassed from the spot.. haha.but we still went
7/23/2008 12:03:30 AM
I do remember walking through a cemetary to get there...
7/23/2008 1:33:59 PM
Yup there is also a rock (i believe you can only get to it by boat) that is about 1/4 mile from the damn around the bend that is fun to jump off of[Edited on July 23, 2008 at 1:41 PM. Reason : zkdzln]

7/23/2008 1:45:22 PM
i want to know where that rope swing is. That looks kick ass!
7/23/2008 1:46:38 PM
Haw River Rope Swing for the win.Been there twice, and the tree off to the right of the rope swing is like a 40ft drop. Scary as crap getting up to it too.
7/23/2008 2:03:02 PM
I managed to get my foot through the loop at the bottom of the rope at the Haw River swing, about half way down from the upper part.....dragged my ass back across the water...rope burn for days
7/23/2008 2:28:29 PM
simonn im pretty sure my sister has jumped off that same point... upstate ny right?i didnt go cause i wasnt up there when she was (visiting family)but upstate has some pretty crucial rocksanyone been to the eno rock quarry in durham? i think thats where it is... but theres about a 20 foot drop and you gotta jump out like 6 feet to miss the dirt part that juts out under you
7/23/2008 2:33:59 PM
Yep, I jumped off the rock wall at Falls Lake a few weeks ago. Definitely the scariest thing i've done in a loooong time. And it's at LEAST 28-32" up. It's tall enough that when you jump, you have time to fall, and still think "Dang, i'm STILL falling! AHHHH!".I got a running start and jumped over the bush that's up there too
7/23/2008 2:35:12 PM
if im not mistaking, this is where the rock jump is on falls lakehttp://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=&saddr=&daddr=35.94578,-78.581718&mra=mi&mrsp=0&sz=18&sll=35.945537,-78.581461&sspn=0.001924,0.003326&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=18

^ yea i doubt its the exact rock but it looks like it was in that areahopefully next year ill have enough time to go there and camp out and whatnot
7/23/2008 4:25:44 PM
Summersville Lake, WV. In the summer, almost the whole lake is surrounded by 30' - 50' ft cliffs. While they just made it illegal to jump from the top, you can climb the rocks and "fall" into the water all you want. It's a bit of a drive, but well worth it.
7/23/2008 4:33:55 PM
you can see the trail from the cemetery at the top in this too.
