Idiots is right when talking Busco. There are a small handful of real riders there.......the rest are drunken jarheads or rednecks. I am surprised the death toll doesn't rise daily. There have certainly been several deaths there, and if you've ever been just once........you'll know why. I go to NCMP all the time (http://www.ncmp.net). Several miles of trails, and 3 MX tracks. There are alot of trails in the Raleigh area also. And depending on what you are riding and what you are looking to ride (MX or trails), there are several tracks within about an hour of Raleigh. I ride off of Leesville Road pretty often......

Thats pretty harsh talk about busco, probably by someone who hasn't been in the last 12 months. There is a concerted effort to clean that place up, and its working. You have to sign in at the gate (which is now manned 24 hours a day), the beach is patrolled by busco employees and off duty deputies at most times. Drinking and riding is strictly prohibited and will get you tossed out immediately. The NC helmet law is also enforced, they won't even let you in without a helmet. PLus, admission prices have been raised. Factory sponsored events are also helping to legitimize Busco. No doubt it will take some time to weed out the irresponsible riders that have traditionally come to the park, but management is moving in the right direction with all the new regulations. There was an incident last week, but the very riders themselves located and held the suspect in place untill the authorities arrived, a testament to self policing.

^^a 15 year old girl was raped by a repeat offender. thanks to our wonderful justice system, he was free and even off parole i believe.it's atv only. no trucks. it's private land though. if they want to let people run wild, be drunk idiots, or whatever it's their right and fine with me. they shouldn't be forced to clean up or change anything unless they feel like it. it is nice they're trying to put forth a positive image though. it can only help in the fight for the use of public land and make other private land owners more receptive of allowing access.

wasnt that place in Tenn we went to with the LC wasnt that owned by a private owner too?

wow i was at busco 4 days before the rape

^^yeah, callalantee. it's an active logging area, and that's what most of the trails are from. great for atv's, but takes a long time for them to erode to the point of entertaining for trucks. a couple of off road clubs have started cutting in new trails in recent years though specifically to get some more challenging obstacles. there used to be cracker's neck also on the other side of the mountain, but it's been sold off for development.^yep, that's it. i'm all for letting people do their time for a crime and then releasing them to go about living their lives, but imo that guy should never have been out in the first place. who in the hell decided he was rehabilitated enough to be let off parole, or even out of prison in the first place with that kind of record? what idiot granted him bail for the felony b&e two months ago? a judge or someone in the justice system needs to be sitting along side him in court as an accessory to this rape.
