Hey Guys!I'm transferring to NCSU in the fall and I am completely lost about the whole parking situation for off-campus students. I was able to get a permit for the EZ West Lot Zone (pretty far away) for $240 a year. I Realized how far this was from campus and wasnt sure if I should park there or not, although I was told I am lucky to get that lot. People have told me that if you park at a local shopping center and walk you will be towed or given a ticket, is this true? I'm an off-campus student and just need an inexpensive way to park (im brokee!!). Any information would be SO helpful, thanks a bunch!!!

glad to see that parking at NCSU hasn't gotten any better since I was there.I used to park in the 2 hour spots on the street in the neighborhoods on the other side of Hillsborough St. But yeah, if you go a single minute over those 2 hours, you get a nice hefty ticket.

in before dnlYou're better off just buying the pass and walking. Or asking for a better pass like the DC deck.[Edited on July 20, 2008 at 11:55 AM. Reason : ]

but you definitely don't want to park at the local shopping centers. they keep a pretty good watch on their lots, knowing that a lot of NCSU kids are lookng for free parking closer to campus. you might get away with it a couple times, but you will get towed eventually.

does food lion still have the park and ride the bus thing?
7/20/2008 12:00:21 PM
If you venture further back, you'll eventually come to a place where there isn't a 2hour limit...but by then it's a decent hike. I'm constantly amazed that there are still variations of "wolf pack" something of other names... you'd think by now the only ones left would have to have numbers

oh, the EM west lot ....which is on campus next to a bus stop in case you can't walk further than 2 laps around a mall....
7/20/2008 12:07:41 PM
where are the majority of your classes?I would say, just get to the parking lot early and walk to class. Its a good way to get some exercise and collect your thoughts before the day starts.also, keep your eye out for the nearest bus stop (or look on the ncsu website for the Wolfline route information). if the weather is shitty, or if you really dont feel like walking everyday, the buses will come in very handy
7/20/2008 12:07:56 PM
yeah, west lot isn't bad at all, maybe a 10 minute walk (if that) to central/main campus

if you cant park on campuswe could walk or drive to the foodlion and catch the wolfline up to campus. there are plenty of places where u can park on the road or in a parking lot. unless they have a sign saying they will tow or ticket you for being there, you can park. but your best bet is either at the kmart and riding westgrove or going to foodlion and riding from there (its legal).then again, the west lot has a bus stop infront of it and its maybe a 15 minute walk for you to communication buildings[Edited on July 20, 2008 at 12:31 PM. dont pay to park if you live off campus.....park along one of the bus routes and ride the bus. It only takes an extra few minutes to get around and its free.
