most places will be cool with your credit, you'll just have to pay the full deposit.as for cheap 1 br places. The cheapest place I ever lived was a place in Cary called Misty Woods. It was $400 a month. Not much to the apartment and there was a pretty strong mexican population, but I was hardly there anyway.

hahaha misty woodsoh lawdwe always dread going over there

Misty Woods? lol.....hmmmm.Well is the place decent? If the outside and inside are respectably nice then that might work. And what I mean by that is if my gf and her friends come and see me and theyre scared shitless to come inside then thats obviously a no-go.

keep in mind it was about 5 years ago when I lived there so some things may have changed, but it was OK. I mean, you get what you pay for. floorplan is really basic, but it had a pretty cool little back porch. Bedroom was decent size, bathroom was small. no pool or any other ammenities really. just a basic little apartment in an area right off of 440, so it was convenient to everythingit might help if you define "cheap".[Edited on July 20, 2008 at 12:57 PM. So what youre saying is...the mexicans arent that scary? id like to have some people over for some beers---or 20, have some downtime with the gf and not worry. I can make the place nice inside, 400 bucks sounds nice. but seeing it was that long ago, i would figure the price has gone up.

oh yeah, I had people over all the time. i mean it looks like any other apartment complex, and the fact that it is in Cary near Crossroads pretty much gave the illusion that it was a really nice place. Just keep in mind at that price range, you aren't going to be surrounded by little rich white girls who's daddy's are paying their rent.

why does everyone hate on mexicans

kpark
7/20/2008 3:46:43 PM
do you mean like Kentwood Park?
7/21/2008 1:41:34 AM
http://www.apartmentratings.com/rate/NC-Cary-Cary-Brook-Apartments-formerly-Misty-Woods.htmlMisty woods is now called Cary Brook apartments.kpark should mean Kensington Park, which is off of Avent Ferry Rd just south of campus. If I were you, I'd look at some of the "roommate wanted" postings in classifieds. I imagine most of the people on here are people like me who are decent roommates. You'll save on utilities that way too.

That Pine Knolls is like 525 or 540 and I think it comes with wireless (avent ferry by centennial campus)

^540walked by that sign today...i almost lived there back when they were like 395...then they renovated and jacked up the prices, and kensington park has a pool

awesome, i like all these suggestions, keep em coming.i know my friend lives at those log cabin looking apartments (Burt Dr Apts) on the corner of Crest and Burt Dr......its a 2 bedroom for 550 a month. so im guessing theres bound to be good deals on 1 bedrooms out there (given its not exactly clean on the outside and there are sketchy breezeways where it looks like homeless people shack up)

The Lakes off of Sandy Forks have studios for 479(535 sq ft.) and 1 bedrooms @ around 735 sq ft for 499. Shit ton of amenities, pool w/ outdoor gas grill, furnished lounge, tanning bed, gym, beach volley ball court. 5 mins from 540, 10 mins from 440.
7/21/2008 7:57:17 AM
$499 for a 1 br is pretty good. My one bedroom here in Greensboro was $535, 800sq.ft. $10 of that was pet rent though.

I can make the money, thats not the biggest issue for me. I'm just worried about my credit....stupid ex-gf (long story short). So most of these places will just make me pay a full deposit if my credit is subpar?
7/21/2008 10:40:33 AM
yeah, most places only use credit to determine how much of a deposit you will have to pay. as long as you have a good rental history and can prove that you make more than 3 times the rent per month, you should be good.
7/21/2008 12:06:53 PM
too bad I have no credit so my score is below the 600 that all these require. such bs because i make like 5 times the rent..
7/22/2008 2:00:44 AM
those places require 600 credit score to rent? that's fucking rediculous. Shit, with a 600 credit score you can get a pretty decent interest rate on a mortgage and buy your own shit.
7/22/2008 8:54:50 AM
jeebus...if thats the case im screwed royally
7/22/2008 12:42:07 PM
i am almost sure that isn't the case. if you have a good rental history (i.e. always pay on time, never broke a lease, etc.) then they will most likely rent to you regardless of your credit. they will just charge you the full deposit.
