Good amount of hp. not really alot of torque though... hmm... I mean, you can get 400hp+ and 200 ft-lbs on pump gas, which i guess wouldn't be bad in a miata. Should be quite fun actually.. DO IT!

unfortunately, getting back into sport bikes has made me once again aware of just how slow and heavy my 540 is. I realize a miata will never be a sport bike, but it could be pretty fun.

bad ideaclutch would be a problem in a vehicle as heavy as a miata (with more traction than a 'busa, too, esp since you'd want to put a torsen miata diff in it, or maybe an RX-7 diff), and i have serious doubts that the 'busa transmission would take those kinds of loads.you'd also have to account for some sort of reverse (which is doable--the bike-engined Seven guys do it), but it's another complication and expense.there'd be a bunch of custom fab work needed, which you'd have to hire out, and it wouldn't be cheap. i mean, this is certainly doable...it's just a matter of how much you want to spend, and for what this would cost, i believe you could have a better sports car with some other platform/approach.i don't know what the NC emissions laws are these days, but that could also be a problem if you need it to be legal.on top of all that, there are already good ways to go retarded fast in a Miata, and they'd be less expensive and much easier to do.listed in order of my preference:1. LS1 swap2. MP62 supercharger kits (Miata SC'ing has come a long way...they make big power now for not much money once you build the engine to handle it)3. FMII turbo kit

I just saw a trashed miata for like $1200 and there was a full gsxr 1000 motor for sale on carolinadsm for cheap so I got to thinkin. I wouldn't go with a sturdier rear end because I wouldn't be putting down that much torque with a bike engine, just a lot of hp/high rpm. I saw a company that was dropping zx14 motors in smart cars, not sure how long the clutches held up there, but the cars were quick

a motorcycle clutch is cheap, though.you'd prob be fine with a miata diff, but you'd want the torsen one to put the power down.
