I'd like to upgrade my laptop, and I have several programs on this one (including Photoshop). I'd like to transfer/reinstall the programs without having to repurchase or go through a lot of red tape. What do normal people do? I can't afford to try and operate photoshop under "shady" circumstances (not registered) because if any hurdles come up where they require me to register before I can take a certain action, my business hangs on my ability to use the program (album designing which can't be completed using Paint Shop Pro). I want to be able to do this legally and efficiently.

well when you downloaded Photoshop etc didnt you have a key for them? why dont you just download the programs on the other comp and use the same key?

I was worried that it might say I've already registered the key on another comp and that I'm not allowed to use it on multiple comps.

Here's a crazy thought: pay for software and you don't have to deal with this shit.

so whats the answer? I've got a photo recovery program on here that I d/l after purchase like 5 years ago. My new comp is coming today and I want to transfer it also, if possible. I didn't think you could transfer programs.

I've never used them, but there's a few programs out there which claim to be able to transfer programs from one PC to another. Here's one...http://www.laplink.com/pcmover/

Jbaz said to go to Help (in photoshop, not sure about your program), and to de-activate the key. It won't work again until the key is reactivated. He said calling up Adobe isn't such a pain either if this doesn't work.

just as future reference, i always save all my setup files as either *.exe or *.iso, as well as any relevant cd keys.
