^^^and ^^. this is a really really vague category that many artists would fit in. its almost as vague as general indiepeter bjorn and john (poppy folk)songs:ohia/magnolia electric coiron and winesufjan stevenswhiskeytowndevendra banhartm. wardbonnie "prince" billynick drakelucinda williamsa lot of people dig ray lamontagne or whatever (or so i hear)if you want to go really really broad you could almost throw in animal collective (like, freaky freaky folk)[Edited on July 9, 2008 at 11:05 PM. i dunno what i'm lookin for, but i figured the collective tastes of tww would come through.decemberists would be too mainstream at this point, maybe.i'm trying to see if i can get into it.Elliott Smith, Scott Liss, Hayden, Patrick Wolf, Alexi Murdoch, Bright Eyes, CocoRosie, Maggie Simpson, Plunkett, Matt Costa, Motel Motel, The Mountain Goats, Beirut (band) ...
7/10/2008 12:47:06 AM
wow, never heard patrick wolf being considered folkthat's pretty far off!

7/10/2008 1:38:37 AM

I really miss the folk station that used to be on Sirius radio. The Coffee House does an okay job but just doesn't play nearly as much as it should. I listen to it a lot and really enjoy the indie-folk/ alt-country scene but i always seem to forget artists that i want to download and hear more of by the time i get out of my truck. That being said...tww introduce me to some more alt-country groups. I already listen to quite a bit of Ryan Adams and Bright Eyes. so let me know.

^^ get some whiskeytown if you haven't already. in my opinion, strangers almanac is much better than anything ryan adams has done since.
