http://www.thestuffinside.com/subjects/wrigley/Evidentially ownership is looking to sell the naming rights to a corporation.
7/8/2008 4:14:16 PM
that'd be very bad.
7/8/2008 4:24:10 PM
It's great to be here at Wrigley Stadium!!
7/8/2008 4:46:43 PM

7/8/2008 4:47:31 PM
7/8/2008 5:26:06 PM
maybe Wrigley's gum could buy it from the Tribunelike I just said]
7/8/2008 5:31:16 PM
I was just pointing out the stadium is already named after a corporation. Which isn't what you just said. Besides, I usually try to ignore your posts.
7/8/2008 5:33:12 PM
Well, it was the Wrigley family that bought the Cubs back in the day, you could say they named it after their family name.Wrigley was baller back in the day. Anyone who's been to Catalina Island knows this.[Edited on July 8, 2008 at 5:35 PM. Reason : f]

7/8/2008 5:39:18 PM
I meant that Mr. Wrigley was baller. Cubs used to have spring traing on Catalina back in the day. He built all kinds of shit there.[Edited on July 8, 2008 at 5:40 PM. Reason : s]
7/8/2008 5:39:55 PM
oicThere was a Wrigley Field on (or near) Catalina Island, though
7/8/2008 5:41:22 PM
the field is not named after a company, its named after the ownerdont confuse this with corporate stadium naming rights like all other stadiums[Edited on July 8, 2008 at 5:44 PM. Reason : .]
7/8/2008 5:43:08 PM
He bought Catalina Island back in the day. I don't know if the family still owns it though. That's baller. No way should they sell out and rename it.
7/8/2008 5:43:45 PM
7/8/2008 5:44:27 PM
dont confuse this with corporate stadium naming rights like all other stadiumsit was named after the current owner of the team]
7/8/2008 5:44:50 PM
My point is that the stadium was named after a corporation. And I am 100% right. Don't try to skew the direction of the discussion.
7/8/2008 5:45:54 PM
if the family name was Wrigley and they owned a company called American Candy Peanut Chocolate Fudge Swizzle Stick Candy Company of the US, then I guarantee they wouldnt have named the field "American Candy Peanut Chocolate Fudge Swizzle Stick Candy Company of the US Field"ernie is right
7/8/2008 5:48:01 PM
the Chicago Tribune doesn't sell any naming rights to Wrigley Company, because it was named after the then-owner of the Cubs, William Wrigley, not a corporation like basically all other stadiums in sports todaythis thread is about corporate naming rights for Wrigley Field, SINCE THEY DON'T CURRENTLY DO THAT]
7/8/2008 5:48:08 PM
That posts makes zero fucking senseof course, neither does this:
7/8/2008 5:49:28 PM
how much does Wrigley Company pay the Tribune for the naming rights since its a corporate sponsorship? I could've sworn it was $0.00...did you know William Wrigley used to own the Cubs and he renamed the field after himself? Apparently you didn'tthe Chicago Tribune doesn't sell any naming rights to Wrigley Company, because it was named after the then-owner of the Cubs, William Wrigley, not a corporation like basically all other stadiums in sports todaythis thread is about corporate naming rights for Wrigley Field, SINCE THEY DON'T CURRENTLY DO THAT
7/8/2008 5:50:34 PM
Point out where I said that Wrigley pays the Tribune Co. for naming rights.Oh, you can't? Because I never said that. That isn't my point. My point was that the stadium was originally named after a corporation. I was right about that, you argued that I was wrong, realized that I wasn't, and changed the argument to corporate naming rights. And yes, I realize that the original post was about corporate naming rights. But my first post wasn't and you argued with me over that, not over naming rights.
7/8/2008 5:54:35 PM
it was named after William Wrigley, not his companyand what was that bullshit you already mentioned twice about ignoring me? more hot air
7/8/2008 5:56:35 PM
^ technically you are right, but you have to be an idiot to think the purpose wasnt advertising for his company... see my post above
7/8/2008 5:57:21 PM
Well, we're in luck. TreeTwista is dumb enough to think that.

Ernie, that other Wrigley Field was in LA, the Angels played there for one season-their first year. The Dodgers almost ended up playing there after their move but played in the Coliseum. That old B&W "Home Run Derby" was filmed at the LA Wrigley Field. The third Wrigley Field was and still is on Catalina Island.
7/8/2008 6:01:20 PM
Did you see the link I posted above. The one the About Us page of the Wrigley Company's website? Because if you clicked on that, you could clearly see that the name of the company is not and has never been Wrigley's.

7/8/2008 6:03:17 PM

7/8/2008 6:05:21 PM
You're right, the stadium is not a company product. It's a fucking stadium.[Edited on July 8, 2008 at 6:06 PM. Reason : ]
7/8/2008 6:05:54 PM

7/8/2008 6:11:43 PM
Seeing as how you've been posting non-stop for the past eight hours or so, I guess TWW is a lot more important to you. So, I'll let you have this one, even though none of your posts are even close to being intelligible. You're the man, treetwista, keep on keepin on.
7/8/2008 6:14:05 PM
as I stated, it was named after the owner, but it wasnt an accident that his company was named the same thing... if he was dead and yeeeeeears later they named it after him then it could be to honor/remember him, but in this case it was clearly for advertising
7/8/2008 6:14:07 PM
7/8/2008 6:14:53 PM
because his company also shared his name.... once again, see my first post
7/8/2008 6:15:51 PM

7/8/2008 6:16:26 PM
Just FYI and to settle this, Wrigley Field was definitely named after William and not his company. Ernie, you are stupider than fuck.
7/8/2008 6:28:12 PM
7/8/2008 6:33:38 PM
excuse me, are you talking about I wasted 5 dollars?
7/8/2008 6:39:17 PM
in the meantime . . .
7/8/2008 6:51:16 PM
that sucks if they really do sell the naming rights.. it is fucking Wrigley field, they can't be doing that shit. That'd be like renaming the Statue of Liberty Aunt Jemima.
